<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Michael Jordan playing for the Lakers? The thought has occurred to Phil Jackson. Jackson, the Lakers coach and Jordan's former coach in Chicago, intimated in a published report that he has reluctantly considered a scenario in which Jordan would play for him if Kobe Bryant is unable to. "It has crossed my mind," Jackson told the Chicago Tribune for Tuesday's editions. "But I don't think I'd ask Michael that question until it became absolutely necessary or it became a reality. It's just speculation." Jordan, 40, has not dropped hints that he'll play again. Jordan retired after last season as a Washington Wizard, missing the playoffs for a second straight season. He butted heads with teammates and ownership and, ultimately, was fired when he tried to return to his front-office position with the franchise. Bryant has a scheduled court appearance in Eagle, Colo., on Thursday, when it will be determined in a preliminary hearing whether he will stand trial for felony sexual assault. A trial date has not been set, and it is possible that a trial could come during the NBA's regular season or during the playoffs.</div> Full Article: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1632466
hhhmmm...interesting...ive mixed feelings about this...i want to see him back again...but not in a Lakers uniform...he won't get enough touches...and that will hinder his greatness...ive always wanted him to retire with a bang...
I think Jordan should stay retired... His 2 years with the Wizards showed that he's not the superman type player that he once was (although there were flashes). Coming back again will only hurt his reputation more. He had a great career, but now it's over.
He won't come back. I guarantee it. PJ is just playing mind games to make the media talk about something else besides Kobe. But if this WAS true, I would not be in favor of getting MJ. There would be waaaaaay to many egos, and players that demand the ball.
MDE, you are absolutely correct. PJ is the master at misleading the sheep, also known as the media. They bought this rumor and are running with it. Pure genius! However never underestimate Jordan's desire to play and win another ring. Never underestimate the bond between MJ and PJ, and never underestimate the draw of playing for the Lakers. I don't think there would be any ego problems with Jordan aboard. All of the stars are old vets who have one common goal, a ring. They are no longer concerned with personal accomplishments or stats.
Jordan, if he were to come back AGAIN, would likely play for a young team on the verge of the playoffs..he wouldn't go to the Lakers, trust me.
