    Jordan Zimmermann wanted to go deep in the game to give Washington's bullpen a rest. He turned in a performance that showed why fill-in manager John McLaren believes the right-hander could one day be the ace of the Nationals' staff.

    Less than two years after having Tommy John surgery, Zimmermann pitched seven impressive innings and drove in the tiebreaking run with a safety squeeze to lead Washington over the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Tuesday night.
