Josh Johnson and the San Diego Padres finalized an $8 million, one-year contract on Wednesday. The right-hander was acquired by Toronto in a trade with Miami last offseason but went 2-8 with a 6.20 ERA 16 appearances. He missed significant time with a triceps injury. The 29-year-old Johnson had arthroscopic surgery to remove a bone spur in his elbow at the end of the season. He made his big league debut with the Marlins in 2005 and has a career record of 58-45 with a 3.40 ERA.
