"Josh McCown is headed back to the Chicago Bears, a league source told the Chicago Sun-Times' Sean Jensen. He was expected to travel to Chicago on Monday night.

"We're looking at all our options at the quarterback position," Lovie Smith said. "As I said, he's one of them. He played good football for us. We're familiar with him."

McCown was signed to back up Caleb Hanie last season after Jay Cutler was lost to injury. He was cut Aug. 31 after a decent preseason showing.

The Bears, who face the San Francisco 49ers on "Monday Night Football," are preparing for a scenario in which Cutler could miss some games after being concussed Sunday during the Bears' 13-6 loss to the Houston Texans. "
