He is averaging: 18.4 ppg 6.9 rpg 3.4 bpg 2.2 spg 3.1 apg

Very solid numbers, but he is still making dumb mistakes and not playing like he should. Should Atlanta try to trade him now? I think it's pretty clear that Atlanta won't be re-signing him at the high price he's asking for, otherwise they would have agreed to an extension already.

I don't know who we could get for him, those numbers are hard to make up but it would allow Atlanta to put out a more traditional line-up of Marvin and Horford at the 3 and 4. The thing is if we did trade him and the team got worse, it would probably mean Atlanta finishes with the worst record and hand over a great pick to the Suns

What does this team need? What do you trade him for?
Originally I thought Josh Smith could be a franchise player for Atlanta, especially since there was a chance he would grow taller, too. I agree with you, he seems to be the odd man out with Marvin Williams making strides this year. Marvin has been a lot more efficient and consistent.
I think they should force the team taking him to also take Speedy Claxton and get him off the books.

What would Atlanta want for him? I know lots of teams around the league would want someone with as much talent and athletisismas him.

QUOTE (o.iatlhawksfan)

no.

They aren't going to be able to afford all three forwards Marvin, Josh, and Horfie. Out of the three which one would you trade?

Horford contract isn't up, anytime soon. The Hawks have enough cap room to get Marvin and Josh to a contract extension, the player that would have to go is Childress.

Hawks fan are still mad from yesterday, that how they are LOL. If he has a good game tonight, they'll all be on his bandwagon, but when he has a bad game, "trade him NOW".

Joe Johnson contract isn't that bad, and by the time Joe's contract will be up, and will probably ask for a smaller contract. Marvin, Josh, Horford and Joe are the main players that should be here.

By then Joe will be the 2nd or 3rd option, and aging, I don't expect him to ask for franchise type money.

oh yea I forgot about that!
Lets not forget the 11rebs 4ast 2blks and getting to the line and making them.

With no P.G Josh is force to create his shots, and thats not one of his strengths whick is why he's shooting so poorly. What he needs is a PG to do the setting up for him, hopefully Acie is back by Saturday. Speedy has started practicing.

Suggestion: Don't take so many shots and try passing the ball around.

Just a suggestion.

I say trade Josh Smith for Calderon and Joey Graham, with fillers to match the contracts. Hawks get their point guard, Raptors get a good piece to add to their team. He could act as the Shawn Marion of the team.
My 2 cents.
