If any of you guys watched the Raptors-Hawks game you guys wouldve been surprised, Josh Smith was nailing 3's and everything, he's really improved. I didnt expect his jumpshot to come along this fast and I highly doubt anyone else did. I think Josh Smith can be a 20, 5, 5 guy in a few years if presented with the right tools. Like everyone knows the Hawks are lacking a GOOD PG and thats one of the reasons of there league-low 11-58 record. Do you guys think that if J-Smoove keeps his jumpshot as good as it was today and keeps improving at this rate that he can be a 20, 5, 5 player?
I think he can be a 20, 7, 5 guy because of his size. If he continues to work on his jumper and the Hawks fill him with the right peices, they could have a great future.
If the story about the Slam-Dunk success going to his head isn't true, then he'll be in good shape. He is huge, athletic, and with a jump shot he will be extremely hard to stop. With some help, specifically a point guard (as the original poster stated), I feel that he can be a McGrady-type player. Then again, McGrady's jumper is sickening. When he is feeling it offensively, he's almost unstoppable. Will Josh add that dimension to his game? That remains to be seen.
Yup, like Kobe8Ball said, more than 20-5-5, his rebounding is very good, and he can be a 20-8-5 guy in my opinion if it continues to improve. I don't know if he'll be a 20 PPG scorer though, I see him more as an 18-8-4 guy, the Hawks have a good core, and it will be hard to have more than one 20 PPG scorer in the bunch. Al Harrington would likely be the one who would get 20 PPG.
When you think about it Josh could really become a Nique clone in Atl if he works hard enough. I still think he needs a player that can make him better though. So what I'm saying by that is the Hawks need a point who is..good. Also J-Smoove can't slack off, he's going to have to work year round if he wants to help hemslef and the Hawks get better, or else he may be part of the laughing stock of the leauge for his whole carreer.

I think he's more than capable of 20 ppg, 10 rpg (leaping ability will help that number extremely), and right around 2.5 bpg or so. He's been great this season for the Hawks and he's doen so much better than everyone has expected. Remember this, he was the one that was labled most likely flop of the first round. To say the least, I think he's proven any doubters wrong this year with his play.
Quick question here... Does anyone think it's possible that the Hawks (assuming they get the 1st overall pick) will move down a spot or two and select Chris Paul out of Wake Forest? Then again... Bogut...
Honestly, I'd still go after Bogut. Personally, I don't like the idea of drafting a point guard right out of college and thrusting them into running a NBA offense at the starting position, especially on a losing team. The point guard position is one of the most difficult roles to master as it is. It might be better to just pick one up via Free Agency. Aside from a point guard, the Hawks don't really have a post presence either, and size is something that you can't teach. Jason Collier and Obinna Ekezie or whatever are what you have and neither of them are even solid backup centers. If you think about it, you'd have Bogut and Josh Smith in the paint, blocking shots every which way. Essentially, I'd rather have Lue and Bogut over Paul and Ekezie.

I Agree with NuSpace, I'd rather have Bogut and Lue over Paul and Ekezie for 2 reasons. How often do you come around a Big Man as good as Bogut and at his age. And the second reason is we could pick up a point gaurd with some of the money we'll have at the end of the season or do a sign and trade and package someone like Lue and a good signed player for a good pointgaurd or we got another option make a draft day deal and send on of our other picks and a player for a pick in the late first round so we could pick up Jarret Jack, who would be a good fit for the hawks.
To all those saying 20/5/5. Is that last 5 supposed to be assists or blocks? I have no doubts that he will develop a dangerous jump shot. Josh is a very hard worker, and will make huge strides this off-season to refine his shooting abilities. The only thing that will hold him back from becoming a TMac-esque player are his handles. McGrady is an amazing ball handler, and I don't really see that in Josh Smith. In his prime, I feel Josh can average 22 PPG 10 RPG 3 BPG.
Great to see Josh is developing his shot. It will help him set up his driving ability, and if he can learn how to shoot off the dribble, he'll be a deadly offensive player in the league. Let's just hope he doesn't fall in love with his perimeter game and stops attacking the hoop. He also needs to improve his FT% before he can be a 20PPG scorer.
Considering all the hype about him being the best player from this year's draft, once it's one and done, I'm expecting HUGE things from him. I don't want to jinx him at the same time, but i REALLY enjoy watching this kid being raved about. I've been "scouting" this kid since highschool and I'm SO FLIPPIN' HAPPY that he's as good as he is now. I predict 27-10-5-2-2 in his prime, simply because I know how 'Nique will guide him to stardom. Only thing I see will drop is his blocks, simply because I think he'll get 1.5 blocks a game once they figure out that he jumps at alot of things. Still, 1.5 from a SG/SF is excellent on any day. His work ethics is sooo good that I hope he continues developing into, what I hope, a superstar.
Just here to say just seen that J-Smoove number dunk of 4/11/05. It litterally got me off my seat. First time since the VC DC 2000 360 windmill. It's good to hear that he is developing a jumpshot since you know Atlanta games don't get televised world wide. JSmoove turning out to be another Nique. Hopefully, cuz Atlanta and the league itself needs it.
