<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">OKLAHOMA CITY -- Guard J.R. Smith missed his second consecutive game with a sprained left ankle Wednesday night, when the Hornets played the Denver Nuggets.

But after a light pregame workout at the Ford Center, Smith reported progress.

"It's feeling a lot better; I'm able to walk without a limp right now," Smith said. "Trying to run on it, it started snagging on me a little bit. We'll just have to wait and see what happens on Friday."

Smith sustained the minor sprain in Saturday night's loss to Dallas when Mavericks forward Josh Howard fell on the ankle with 1:15 remaining as the pair grappled for a rebound.

The Hornets won't practice again until Friday morning's shootaround before their game against the Atlanta Hawks at 7 p.m. Smith will undergo treatment today.

"It's not as sore as it was before," Smith said. "At first, it was killing me. But now, it's all right." </div>
