IMO we need one more bench scorer to be legit contenders. JR Smith can still light it up. I think he would be a nice fit with Blake and Kaman. The Knicks have no choice but to go into full rebuild mode.

How about Crabbe (or CJ) along with Meyers and Trob for Smith?

No. He's a total gunner that shoots out of the offense. Its not like we need a guy to take a bunch of shots in the 4th.

The problem he has in New York is that he doesn't fit with the triangle offense. That wouldn't be a problem for us. We need a gunner off the bench for about 15 minutes a game. We still have a problem getting points out of our bench, and Stotts always has to keep one our starters in there with them for that reason. Smith is a career 6th man scorer and he's probably available.

No, the problem is he's a fucking scumbag thug chucker who couldn't make a three pointer to save his life. Even BGD would think this is a terrible idea.

Our bench provides other things than points (26th in league) - They're 12th in assists and 11th in rebounds, despite playing some of the least amount of minutes in the league (29th). They also play reasonable defense and play team ball, all of which helps explain why they're 9th in the league in efficiency difference for benches, and they'll improve when CJ comes back. I think adding a me-first guy like JR Smith is a horrible idea.

Thug? Where are you getting that? He was a pretty big part of the good Denver teams a few years back and he's only 29. So what if he's a chucker. He's not a point guard so he wouldn't dominate the ball. I think a guy like Blake would be great at setting him up. Perfect fit as far as I'm concerned.

You said it, 26th in points and least amount of minutes in the league. The rest of those stats are mediocre and he wouldn't hurt them. Our bench still sucks. We need another scorer.

That's great you want more points from the bench, but JR Smith is not the answer for this team. He'd fuck everything up.

Stotts has his set rotation, which is part of why they play so few minutes, and even when the bench plays well they don't play many more minutes unless the game is a blow-out. The starters are definitely playing less than last year though.

Hmmm... Well there is 30 teams in the league, so mediocre would be 13-17th. no knobs said 11th in rebounds (which is above mediocre) 12th in Assists (above mediocre). You should take a statistic course and freshen up on your math. And since we are second to last in minutes, our bench is above average in rebounds and assists with the least amount of minutes. I say that's pretty damn efficient!

    FWIW,

Smith takes about as many FGA as Iman Shumpert in about as many minutes.

And 3pt shooting specialists were a big deal for the triangle in chicago. Rory Sparrow, Craig Hodges, and Steve Kerr to name 3 off the top of my head.

    G. Green, Afflalo, K-Mart (though he's injured), Thaddeus Young are much better candidates.

What a douchie post. Yeah there's a big difference between 12 and 13. None of those stats would drop off much if we added a scorer.
