<u>Judge: Lions will break out in 06</u> Clark Judge of CBS SportsLine tries to pick who this year's Chicago Bears will be. Which team is primed for a reversal of fortune? He picks three teams, the final choice is the Detroit Lions. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>June 27, CBS SportsLine: 3. Detroit Lions (5-11): Yeah, I know, the Lions haven't been worth a damn since ... well, since Barry Sanders was in the lineup. But if Jim Leyland can resurrect the Tigers, why can't Rod Marinelli resuscitate the Lions? He can, and he will if the offensive line figures out how to pass block. The Lions have talent, and lots of it in key positions. Running back Kevin Jones could have a breakout season. The same goes for wide receivers Roy and Mike Williams, as well as quarterback Jon Kitna. And the reason is simple: offensive coordinator Mike Martz. The man knows how to produce yards and points. What he doesn't know is how to protect quarterbacks, and they had better figure out a way in Detroit. Because if they can protect Kitna, the Lions offense can be productive, intriguing and -- dare we say it? -- explosive. A GM I speak with frequently swears I'm wrong on this one, that the Lions will battle Green Bay for last place in the NFC North. Maybe, but sooner or later these guys bust out, and I say it's sooner. I like how they responded to the Joey Harrington mess. I like how they cracked down on Mike Williams. I like that there's order in the court. There's simply too much talent on this roster for this club to limp along to another 5-11 season. You don't have to worry about the Lions' defense. It's solid, and the addition of linebacker Ernie Sims makes it better. The key here is getting a pulse from an offense that ranked 26th in rushing and 26th in passing, and Martz is just the guy to do it. Hey, five of Detroit's 11 losses were by no more than six points, with the Lions averaging 15 points in each of those defeats. That changes. Now, so should the outlook.</div>

Eventually the whipping boy develops into a good team, thats the beauty of the NFL. Just look at the Bengals. Was hard to admit they were developing so quickly. Of course, when they won the division it was kinda hard to argue. I am sure that when playoff time rolls around you won't hear much from the GB fans about how bad Detroit is.........

The same stuff last year. I think the question on the board should be, Will the token Lion fan be around come October?

Everything I'm reading about the Lions' potential sounds cut and paste from last year at this time. Lots of hype and lots of potential... If the Lions do manage to succeed this year, good for them. Personally, I'll believe it when I see it.

I believe it?s inevitable, kind of like the return of DX was.

In order to be the other, the Lions would have to be digestible and we know they are not. Whereas, the paint is probably toxic if consumed.
I've bet too many years on Detroit finally being good again...I just don't believe it. I don't think they have made enough changes to the team to really resurrect themselves... So what can they do to gain back my confidence before the year begins? Move out of Detroit, rename the team, and bring in a brand new staff and players. Then they might have a chance.

The NFL needs to retract we can start with Detroit and just for laughs, Buffalo.

So far their 0 for 3.
I don't think the Lions will have a great season, but I'd say they have a chance to break even. My guess though would be 6-10.
I can save Lions fans the painful thing which is their season. Lions come out full of potential, start slipping, average QB turns into a whipping boy. Rodgers gets hurt by week 4,season is lost and next year do it all over again
