During the draft coverage Mike & Mike said the team will likely wait until after July 1st to make a big deal. Why? With a front-office in dismay, does Paul Allen really believe we have a shot at Chris Bosh?
LOL! Thanks man! Now we have the perfect excuse for anything and everything that doesn't happen this offseason. Lebron doesn't sign here, it's because we didn't have a GM for a couple of weeks this summer. Wade doesn't sign here, it's because we didn't have a GM for a couple of weeks this summer. CP3 not traded to the Blazers for junk, it's because we didn't have a GM for a couple of weeks this summer. Bosh doesn't sign here, it's because we didn't have a GM for a couple of weeks this summer. This is great, we finally have that "one size fits all" mother of all excuses.
The biggest summer in the NBA in years, for a variety of reasons, starts on Thursday, and Larry Miller takes a 3-day weekend before starting his GM search on Monday. Things are fucking fantastic in Blazerland! Shoot me now.
But the scouts aren't. Aren't they running things right now? Plus, it's not like KP would have gotten any more done than Buchanan and Borne. What is his track record of trading?
I don't think it's reasonable to expect Portland to land any of the big fish out there. I hope they have conversations, of course, but there are simply too many options for teams and players that don't involve an overpaid Aldridge and an underachieving Rudy and an unpolished Bayless. Miller was, essentially, unwanted last year. It's not like teams are going to be beating down our doors to acquire him. I'm happy he's a Blazer, but he's not chock-full of trade value goodness. Ed O.
I don't know about you, but even when I am lying on the beach in Hawaii or on a golf course in Hilton Head, I am working because of fucking "technology". Does anyone really take a "vacation" anymore. I doubt Larry Miller threw his I-Phone into the ocean.
Larry Miller said the search would start Monday, not me. Seemed like an aloof and disconnected thing to say, IMO, considering that there are trades that could be made with Miller and Joel's expiring contracts. But hell, let's start searching for a GM on Monday. Larry's really tired and needs a break.
Maybe/Hopefully he meant that the search would start Monday because they would be working on trades over the weekend. (OK that may have been wishfull thinking)
Ha! I'll got with your line of thinking, if only to try and convince myself that these guys have a clue on what they're doing at this point.
