He thanked his friends for their support in the letter, in which he listed several reasons why he would no longer coach at the school. Full details of the letter were not available.</span></span></span>

    <span style="font-family:Times New Roman Times serif"><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%"><span style="color:#000000">Jones is en route to Dallas, where he will meet with other SMU officials about the Mustangs' vacant head coaching job.</span></span></span>

    <span style="font-family:Times New Roman Times serif"><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%"><span style="color:#000000">Jones is scheduled to meet with the SMU president, athletic director, search committee and boosters tomorrow. During that time, he is expected to receive a contract offer that would pay him up to $2 million a year. </span></span></span>

    <span style="font-family:Times New Roman Times serif"><span style="font-size:12pt;line-height:100%"><span style="color:#000000">Jones currently earns $800,016 from Hawai'i on a contract that expires June 30.</div></span></span></span>
