I was just thinking, would this trade ever even be considered? I don't take this proposal seriously, I just thought it would be interesting to get some opinion's on it's pros and cons. Hey, you never know, Lebron could ask to be traded one of these days...lol. Anyhow, here's the trade... The Cleveland Cavaliers Trade: G/F Lebron James G Eric Snow F Drew Gooden F Ira Newble The Boston Celtics Trade: G/F Paul Pierce F Antoine Walker G Delonte West & A Future First Round Selection
I just don't like that trade for either teams, basicly they're just swapping thety're tallent bases and lets face it, the celts have beebn better than the cavs

You would pass up a chance to get LeBron? I don't care how much better you think we have been in the last 2 years. We aren't going to win a championship next year, so even if we were sacrificing talent for the immediate future, we'd be much better in the long run. LeBron already is better than Pierce. He's also much younger. Imagine this starting lineup in 3-4 years: PG- Marcus Banks SG- Gerald Green SF- LeBron James PF- Drew Gooden C- Al Jefferson

I would do that trade in a heartbeat. The Cavs are getting the short end of the stick but i do like this trade. We're giving up two veterans that are approaching the twighlight of their careers and a young point guard to get one of the best players in the leauge and his third year in the pros is only approching, a good Power Forward, a veteran Point Guard and another good Swingman. Boston would be an immediate championship contender and have predictably the best player in the leage for years to come. But this is only a hypethetical trade. Darn.
I think there are valid points here, and silly ones. First off, a silly one: the twilight of their careers? Hell no. These guys have as much learning and growing to do as any other player in the game. Pierce is just coming into the years where he should be finding a peak to his game, and Antoine has added new elements to his game every season for the past three, and with a taste of success, there's no reason to believe it won't happen again. Another silly one: there is no truth to the notion that the Celtics are trading their talent base here. They are trading the failed model that was supposed to be the heart of their team. They now know that this model cannot and will not work as a championship force, which is, of course, their goal. Obviously, there is not a chance in Hell this trade would pull off, if for no other reason than the contracts, but as was previously stated, it's just for fun, so what's the hurt in looking at it. The C's talent base now lies in every player on their roster that is under that age of 24. And, as is noted, there are enough of those to go around. Delonte would be a great pickup for the Cavs, but there is nothing there the Cavs would want for LeBron, the player that would complement LeBron so capably. As for Gooden, the C's couldn't do a thing with him, so he's right out. And Snow would be a great pick up for the C's, but again the contracts are impossible to work. But as a diehard C's fan, I can't complain about the trade. Too bad...
