Gordon's not a point. And Clippers won't sign Kobe. And what happened to Q?

If they sign Kobe, they will not have Maggette.

Surely you mean Richardson? who is a free-agent at the end of the season.Maggette has a 6 year deal so he is a lock to stay in L.A.Clippers aren't dumb enough to trade a rising star like Maggs.

I meant Maggette, I think the only way Kobe leaves is a sign and trade, any sign and trade deal with the Clippers would likely include Maggette coming to the Lakers.

Clippers have enough money to sign Kobe without giving up anyone. No way in hell the Clippers trade Maggette just to get a deal done.Kobe will be a free-agent...Lakers will have no rights on him.I think you are dreaming abit here.

    Two things could happen

    1-Kobe re-signs with the Lakers
    2-Leaves the Lakers

The Lakers will not get anyone back for him.Teams around the league aren't stupid to give up a star player for him

However if there is way a sign and trade does happen..Lakers will not get fair value back for him.

Actually I think it's the Clipper fans who are dreaming Kobe will join them. The salary cap will not be determined until later in the season, but let's assume the Clippers can afford Kobe. I don't see Donald Sterling maxing out Kobe because of his pending trial. Any deal will be contingent on that status and I the Lakers could use the uncertainty as leverage to getting a deal done before Kobe goes to trial.

Donald Sterling shed his cheap ways last season by re-signing Brand & C-Maggs, but asking Scrooge to max out Kobe seems far fetched to me. Sterling has gone on record saying he is not a fan of the game, it is strictly a business for him. He does not care about wins or losses, he cares about putting a marketable, young product on the court and sells the "hope" of making it to the playoffs.

I agree, the Lakers will not get fair market in return for Kobe. Apparently GM's feel he's too risky, even the Bulls wouldn't offer anything more than Rose & Chandler for him.

What ever decision he makes it will have a major effect on the league, but after all is said and done he will be a Laker.

To be honest It will depends on how the Lakers do in the playoffs if he decides to opt out which he said he would. If they fail in the playoffs I see him leaving but It just doesn't seem right Kobe not being in a Laker jersey.I said this last year that he will be a Laker for life..It all depends on how the team do and how he continues to gets on with Shaq. The big debate is still "Is this Kobe's team" if Kobe thinks he has had enough of that debate he might well leave. While going to a team that not only can offer more money but the spotlight and being the number 1 guy.

As for Donald Sterling I agree with that somewhat. However he did match the big contracts of Maggette and Brand.Offered Gilbert Arenas 67 million or close to that amount. Was going to match Lamar Odom until LO made those comments about the franchise. So really If they have the money I expect them to make an offer.

I gotta go with Shapecity on this one. Kobe is not gonna leave the Lakeshow.

Even if they lose in the first round, he's sticking around. As I said somewhere else, Kobe is a guy who can have anothe solid dozen seasons or so. That means, assuming Shaq retires in four years, Kobe has almost a decade to have a team build around him. And that's what Jerry Buss intends, building around Kobe.

Why would Kobe make a rash decision and go off to the Clippers, the Grizz, or the Knicks, three teams that have weak histories, when he can be the Man on one of the most storied franchises in sports for a decade? He wouldn't. He's staying a laker. They'll probably come close to maxing him out. And Maggette will stay a Clip.

The reason Kobe said he would opt out in the first place was because he didn't feel the team was going in the right direction. If they had won the title would he of made those comments by saying he would opt out? no certainly not.Getting Payton and Malone was a quick fix..and both won't likely be around in a few years.Payton might but he won't be that effective.

It's hard to know what Kobe is thinking but he wants the spotlight straight away..more than you think.

I've been a Clipper fan for nearly 20 years. I do not want Kobe. Especially at the expense of losing Corey Maggette. I may be in the minority, but I would actually be upset to see Kobe join the Clippers. He's a Laker and will stay put if he's smart.

I saw an interview with Kobe by Jim Grey on ESPN last night. Kobe said he wanted to test the free agent waters because he had never been a free agent before... so who knows... maybe Kobe just wants a fresh start out of LA.
