I didn't think Washington would move up that far, but they did beat two quality teams in Bama and Oklahoma. I feel that Wisconsin should've moved back, instead of up. Pepperdine beat them by 14, so I don't even think they should be ranked. Everything else looks fine...

Good to see Iowa up there. They had a couple impressive wins against two top 15 teams in Louisville and Texas on consecutive nights. I think those wins alone should be good enough to get them there. Only downer was that whipping that UNC gave them. But, aside from that, Iowa has been great thus far and maybe the surprise of the early college basketball season.

The other thing...personally, I don't see how you can rank Illinois, Kansas and Wake about Syracuse. In my opinion, they were the best team last week. Aside from being 5-0, they have wins against Mississippi State and Memphis, two top 25 teams. And not only did they beat them, they beat each of them by 13 and 15 points respectively. Wake beat a so far, less than impressive and overrated Arizona team, and for that matter, barely beat them. Kansas has yet to beat anyone credible and Illinois beat Gonzaga. So, to me, Syracuse deserved the top spot, but I suppose it's a matter of opinion. Other than that, and the fact that Texas and Louisville are ranked higher than Iowa despite each of them losing to them, I pretty much agree with the rankings.

First of all, we're not basing these rankings on ESPN's or the AP's rankings. So being that this is our first ranking, Wisconsin and Washington both couldn't have moved up. Yes, Wisconsin lost, and in most people's minds that dropped them from being a top 5 or top 10 team, but most people still see them as a top 15 team. North Carolina has slipped up, Texas has slipped up, Arizona has slipped up twice, but they're all still held in a high regaurd. Teams lose, it's a part of the game. They're still a top 15 team.

I was surprised to see Memphis up there. They lost not once, but twice. Their losses have come in dissapointing fashion as well. They lost to Syracuse by 11 points and lost to Maryland by 23, which would have been a bigger blowout had Maryland not pulled their starters with six minutes. Not to mention that they only beat Arkansas State by two points, which could have easily gone in Arkansas State's favor, a team that hasn't been half-way decent since they lost Jennings. They look impressive on paper, but with so many new pieces to the puzzle you have to wonder how Memphis' chemistry will be this year.

I thought it was nice to see Virginia up there as well. Most people haven't paid much attention to Virginia, but they've started off the season undefeated including a blowout win against Arizona. In fact, none of their games have even been close. They're definitely looking like a top 25 worthy team this season.

I see what your saying, but in my opinion, I feel that Wisconsin should've had no trouble beating Pepperdine. They lost by 14, and their schedule isn't getting much easier. They really need to beat Maryland to stay in the top 25. Should be a good game though...

Of course the Pepperdine win was a letdown, but like the North Carolina loss to Santa Clara, I don't think we should judge the team based on that one performance. They've got plenty of tough games ahead, as you said, for us to judge them on.

That's pretty cocky. Illinois is 100% healthy this season and is favored in most polls to beat North Carolina.

Illinois was very impressive in their win over Gonzaga. I personally had underrated them until I saw what they were capable of. Definitely want to watch the showdown with UNC.

You must have not seen Illinois play yet. They played a very good Gonzaga team and beat them by 17! Illinois also has one of the best backcourt's in the nation in Brown and Williams. Also, Luther Head is a big threat leading the team with 16 points per game and 7 assists a game. All I can say is watch out for Illinois...

Someone sounds a little cocky. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised to see UNC go down to Illinois. Illinois is playing great ball right now this year, as they did just pummel Gonzaga, who was ranked #25 in the ESPN polls I believe. If I were you, I wouldn't sound too cocky about this game.

I believe they will have an easy win against the Hoosiers, and it will just be practice for the upcoming Kentucky game which will be an amazing game. How about their game against Vermont, I meen I love my Heels, but Vermont they're quite good, and could put up another upset. Tyler Coppenrath is an amazing player.

I agree I don't think that UNC could overlook Vermont, they are a small school but they are talented and have chances to upset a lot of teams. I am definatly looking foward to UNC vs. Kentucky that should be one of the top games of the year and both teams have a chance to meet again in the Final Four or in St. Louis.

FYI, UNC beat Illinois last season, 88-81, and the game wasn't as close as the score appears.

I know it was last year, but UNC and the Illini return the same teams, but UNC now has Marvin Williams, and they didn't have David Noel last year. Also, they have been under Roy Williams for a year, and have improved on the defense.

That was last year though, Both teams may have returned the same guys, but it doesn't mean that whoever won last year will win again this year. It's sucks that these two aren't really playing each other...

Teams improve even without getting any great new players. Remember that two years ago Georgia Tech had Bosh and was just a good team, but not a great team. They lost Bosh and made no outstanding additions yet made a complete 180 degree turnaround and made it to the final four the next year. Also, did Deron Williams play in that game? I know he was out for a while last season.

Deron Williams did play in that game but Dee Brown shot terrible, something like 4-19? and the game was as close as the score said, It was back and forth all game. UNC were never in full control.
