I will admit that Alabama was embarassed by Vandy(they do own us at Memorial Gym), but we should still be ranked. We destroyed a solid LSU team at home and had an impressive win on the road last night at Arkansas. I do like it that Boston College is 15th, they get no respect and it is good to see Wisconsin ranked. My only other complaint besides Alabama is Villanova being ranked over us. I'm not worried though, the Tide has a week off and should get back in next week.

I think they're good rankings once again this week. The only thing I disagree with is that I thought that Kansas should have been #2 instead of #3, but, seeing as how it's no big discrepency or anything, I'm not really gonna complain about it.

You're right, they got EMBARASSED by an UNRANKED Vanderbilt team. That's the key thing right there. Not only did they lose, but they were crushed. I think that's a good enough reason to drop them out of the rankings and make way for someone else. And just a thought, this "solid" LSU team you speak of, is 6-5. To me, that's not even solid...that's somewhere along the lines of mediocre and not that good. So...to recap they're week....a spanking from Vanderbilt and than beating a bad team....seems good enough reason to drop them out if you ask me.

How closely do you guys follow college ball?

For all those who picked Illinois above Duke and UNC, what is your reasoning for that? Also wasn't Marquette ranked something like 22nd in official polls? There is really no excuse for your rankings to be that much different than official ones. The same thing applies to Washington who you guys have at 21.

I realize that you rankings are done on a weekly play, but this is ridiculous.

By your logic, UCLA should be ranked about Washington, because they beat them.

Well I'll tell you, I didn't rank Duke over Kansas, I didn't have Washington that low or Marquette that high. NC State isn't even in my rankings anymore.

You love being spoon-fed by media. Any person who actually follows college ball realizes that the media polls are total crap.

Illinois over Duke and UNC...lets see here...who has challenged them? Oh that's right, next to nobody. They hammered Wake when they were top dog and they're undefeated. What more reasons should be needed to give them the top ranking? Also, beyond that, only 2 of their wins have been by less than double figures. I think they're doing a good job at showing why they need to be #1 and deserve it.

Marquette....lets see here...13-2 overall....only losses were to a very good Arizona team and a halfway decent Memphis team. Beyond that, they've beaten a good Wisconsin team and have won by 10 or more in 8 games this season. I think they deserve their ranking. Oh, and btw, at the time of these rankings, Marquette only had 1 loss....after Memphis however, they will drop.

So, before you come slamming our rankings...take a look at other polls. They're not logical at all. When Iowa had beaten two top 15 teams, they weren't even ranked top 20. In my opinion, they'd done enough, prior to dropping back to back games, to be given a top 15 spot at the very least. In my opinion, the ESPN/AP polls are crap. They don't go by how good a team is sometimes, they go by who the team is. And what I mean by that, just look. Iowa, not expected to do much this year, was ranked 22nd prior to two losses in the Big 10. They had less losses than Texas and had beaten Texas, however, they were ranked beneath them. Sorry to use Iowa as an example, but to me, they've been underrated most of the season. But, they're just an example. To me, that's not fair. They had a better record, had beaten some quality opponents, and had beaten Texas, yet were still ranked lower. Now...explain that for me please.

You also forgot to mention that they hammered Gonzaga, who are considered by many to be the best team in the West. Seriously, how can you not put Illinois at #1? They're undefeated, have passed all their test with flying colors, and are #1 in pretty much every other poll in America. Duke has yet to pull off a very impressive victory and North Carolina has a loss.

Well, I have felt and still do feel that ESPN's polls are usually crap. During that week, pretty much every team between #10-20 lost and Marquette, a team that we had ranked pretty highly, went undefeated that week. At the time their only loss was a last minute loss to Arizona and they had blown out a very solid Wisconsin team. Why shouldn't we have ranked them that high? Obviously, they'll fall like a rock after being embarrassed by Memphis.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">By your logic, UCLA should be ranked about Washington, because they beat them.</div>

No, that is not our logic, or else Santa Clara would be above Noth Carolina. If we go by records or by quality wins like you are suggesting, then why do we have Wisconsin #20 and Connecticut #19?

Illinois are undefeated and beat the previous number 1, they deserve to be where they are at. Since that game Wake have been on a roll and will be tested today against UNC. So It's not as If Illinois beat a number 1 fluke team.

Illinois will stay undefeated until they go into Wisconsin, which is where I expect the streak to end.

They have the best guard rotation in the country with Brown, Williams and Head. Plus very good players around them with Powell and Augustine inside.

UNC looked GREAT this week against Maryland and Georgia Tech but lets see how they do when they take their game on the road. Todays game against Wake Forest will show how good they are.

UNC will really have to step it up considering that they almost lost to NC State last night. Wake has a really strong team especially the backcourt in Chirs Paul.

This game will be a game of endurance and strength for both teams. It is anyones game as of right now.

Umm they haven't played NC State yet. They don't play them until February 3rd. Maybe you are thinking of the womens team. The UNC Wake game will be a great one toay. I can't wait. Excpet for umm I kind of have a basketball game all second half. I can't decide who I think will win this game is to close.
