<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Magic in race for Howard by: Tim Povtak Although it was P.J. Brown who came for the visit earlier this week, it's Juwan Howard now who has the Orlando Magic believing they can do some serious upgrading to their frontcourt later this month. Howard, who averaged 18.4 points and 7.6 rebounds for the Denver Nuggets last season, has shown a willingness to accept the $4.8 million middle-class exception that the Magic have offered him, according to NBA sources. Free agents can begin signing new contracts July 16. "They [Magic] have as good a chance -- or better -- as anyone right now of getting Juwan," said one NBA executive. "It looks promising." The Magic are among several teams offering Howard, 30, a similar package that starts at $4.8 million and extends to four and five years. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons also have expressed some confidence in signing Howard. David Falk, Howard's agent, declined comment Wednesday on Howard's future. Magic General Manager John Gabriel also declined to comment on specific free agents the Magic were courting. The Magic spoke with free- agent point guard Tyronn Lue Wednesday at the RDV Sports-plex. He was the third free- agent point guard who has visited, joining Speedy Claxton and Antonio Daniels. Brown, a 6-foot-11 power forward/center who played in New Orleans last season, left Orlando on Tuesday and went directly to San Antonio. The Spurs are looking for a starter to replace David Robinson and can offer Brown considerably more money than the Magic. Howard, though, is the Magic's first choice. Although he isn't a great interior defender, he would give them a consistent second scoring option behind Tracy McGrady. The Magic would play him alongside power forward Drew Gooden, often going without a true center. </div> http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/bask...?coll=orl-magic
This was already talked about ages ago..he will go to wolves or pistons....i don't see why he would go to Orando..unless he wants nice weather
If that was true they actually would of signed some good players mcgrady isn't that god you think he is...howard has stated he wants to win...and win a title...magic aren't coming close to that anytime soon...
tmac, gooden, giricek, gaines. were getting close, all we need is a big man. and when you have a player like tmac on your team, anything can happen. we could go to the finals.
That still won't get to the finals yet..magic don't have much money to spend on big time free-agents to get that big man..they have a good future but if howars wants to win now..going to magic is a mistake...and mcgrady might leave or opt out of his contract..which he said he might do this season..because of how bad his team-mates were
where would tmac go? his opt out is for after the 2004-2005 season. we have the DPE(disabled player exception, and the MLE, and the 1.3 million dollar exception. we can get a good big man
That is not enough mone to offer a star big man..mcgrady would leave and go to a contender...and get a chance at a ring...thats what he should do...if he wasn't about himself he could of played along side VC...and already made a finals appearence....he wanted attention, the fame and the stats..thats why he moved to Orlando..
tmac has no reason to leave......we will pay him more money than anywhere else. this is is hometown(central florida) and he probably will stay.
He is sick and tired of losing in the first round..he even stated this year that he might go to another team....because of how frustrated he has been...why would he leave? easy..to go to a contender and have a chance at a ring...
I still don't see magic being higher than 4th seed....the east i guess is up for grabs...but i don't see magic getting any further than round two...as it is highly unlilkely for a team to go from 8th to 4th..and make the ECF the following year...
If that was so they would of been a higher ranking....i pretty sure magic lost all the season series meeting with the teams above the apart from philly...and maybe bucks
we tanked the last 2 games of the season or we could have been 6th. we tanked be cause we knew the pistons were a worse team than new jersey and indiana
A sign of a poor team..tanking? only the cavs do that..just plain sad for a playoff team to do that... nets and pacers better? nope..nets yes....as they were this year..pacers? no chance in hell...you still lost..so that terrible plan didn't work..how were we a worst team when we were 1st seed?....we were never heathly the whole playoffs and still made the ECF...and no even if you won both games you would not of been 6th... Back on topic Howard will likely go to minny...teaming up with KG and cassell i think is atrractive to him
i think Howard should stick with the Western Conference <div class="quote_poster">Quoting "truemaster14":</div><div class="quote_post"> the magic were alot better than half the teams in front of them</div> no they weren't.
