Good job. About time the young players start taking over.

“Haven’t been on the ice too much when [opponents] score a goal… I have not been the worst guy, but that was me out of the lineup.”

Good for him. He's 2nd best in +/- on the team.

Not sure on his contract status but hopefully he gets to leave this team and have a career somewhere else. He has been wasted here for years.

This will be the first of many young guys starting to speak up because they realize the vets are a bunch of pussies and they have to take control now.

Kakko is hardly a young guy anymore (in terms of experience, I know he's only 23)...isnt this like his 6th year in the league?

Kakko must mean floating turd that can't be flushed in Finnish, good riddance to Krappo, another #1 bust. This is his 6th year, played 66 games his rookie year, the only thing the Rangers didn't do for this bum is extract any additional effort.

Be that as it may....you have to agree that his play this year really didn't warrant being a healthy scratch compared to the other players on the roster who weren't benched. I used to love Zibanejad but he has been on a steady decline ever since the end of the 2019-2020 season. He's turned into a useless pair of skates.
Also, don't look now but 2nd worst +/- on the team so far is Lafreniere.

Kakko has 4 goals and 10 assists. There’s no reason to be pulling out your scrotum and spinning it around over him.

Kakko gets about 12 minutes of ice time. No PP time. Is a +10. Zibanejad and moron Miller have turned the puck over constantly every game and haven't been benched forget about being scratched. You Kakko haters should be taken out in front of your families and horsewhipped. Embarrassment to Rangers fans. Amazing you are so stupid you can't see what is wrong with him getting benched instead of about 10 other useless players.

Krappo gets 13:23, has 42 SOG in 29 games, still waiting to see that 104mph slap shot. I was excited too early on when it looked like Kakko would easily eclipse his season best 40 points but he's not even on pace for 40 now. Cuylle is in his 2nd year and is light years better than Kakko, gets a minute more because he's earned it and is the primary reason for the +/- Krappo enjoys. The Rangers have half a dozen young guys with size and skill that warrant a look.

I would probably argue multiple things can be true. Kakko has been FAR from the worst player on the Rangers, and didn't deserve to be scratched based on his play, Zibanejad should be # 1 on the should be scratched list followed by Miller. But I am also not going to flip out over Kakko in general. He has had many opportunities to step up and show his talent/potential, and he hasn't stood out as anything more than a decent 3rd line player at best. The guy cannot finish and hasn't been able to do so his whole career. Whether it is missing empty nets or plays like tonight when he shot the puck into the side of the net with the goalie out of position, he doesn't finish. That's who he has been his whole Rangers career on the 1st line, 2nd line, or 3rd line.

There is value to Kakko as a solid 3rd line guy, but we expect/expected more as the # 2 pick in the draft. And he did not deserve to be scratched, and it's a shame a guy like Zibanejad isn't held accountable at all for his sh*t play.

Gotta say I agree with Dump. Kakko has been mistreated by NYR management. I think he will flourish on a team that values effort rather than contract size......

I don't think he was mistreated at all. Again, we like to conveniently forget he was given chances and never stepped up and took it. He has been given 1st and 2nd line opportunities, and each time he didn't get it done. So, he absolutely has responsibility for not reaching his potential.

With that said, as I wrote above, he absolutely did not deserve to be scratched. He also has been a solid 3rd liner, which has value.

And lastly, the Rangers organization also has responsibility for Kakko not reaching his potential. I think that is a two-way street of shared accountability and responsibility. Hence the change of scenery that was needed by both parties.
