In perhaps the most surreal moment for an administration that has seen plenty of them, President Trump on Thursday welcomed Kanye West to the White House. The rapper then gave what amounted to a ringing endorsement of Trump’s presidency during a wide-ranging speech that touched on such topics as crime rates in Chicago, mental health, slavery, aerospace technology and the Unabomber.

“Trump is on his hero’s journey right now,” West said, wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat as he was seated across from the president. “And he might not have expected to have a crazy motherf***er like Kanye West run up and support, but best believe, we are going to make America great again.”

The lunch meeting was supposed to be about prison reform. But West quickly veered off topic as Trump, NFL great Jim Brown, senior adviser Jared Kushner, Secret Service agents and the assembled press pool looked on.

In an extraordinary, mostly uninterrupted rant, West said that he was recently diagnosed as being bipolar, but he insisted the diagnosis was wrong and that he was merely sleep-deprived.

The rapper then offered his thoughts on the 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery in 1865.

West said he wanted to “abolish the trap door called the 13th Amendment,” because, he said, when the amendment was written it was illegal for blacks to read.

“That meant if you actually read the amendment, you’d get locked up and turned into a slave!” West exclaimed, clapping his hands for emphasis.

At one point, West stood up and reached across the table to show Trump a picture of a hydrogen-powered plane, which the rapper told the president ought to replace Air Force One.

“This is what our president should be flying in,” West said, adding that he wants Apple to help him develop the aforementioned plane.

After the rapper finished his 10-minute soliloquy, he got up and hugged Trump.

“I tell you what, that was pretty impressive,” the president said.

“It was from the soul,” West replied. “I just channeled it.”

West, who has become one of Trump’s most outspoken supporters, stirred controversy in an appearance on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” last month when he wore a “Make America Great Again” hat during his performance and delivered a pro-Trump speech to the studio audience. In an interview with “Fox & Friends” earlier Thursday, Trump claimed that when West first expressed support for him, his poll numbers “went up like 25 percent.”

It’s unclear what polling data the president was referring to. According to the most recent Gallup poll, Trump’s job approval rating stands at 43 percent, while 53 percent of Americans disapprove. Gallup also found just 10 percent of African-Americans approve of the job Trump is doing.

“I like him a lot,” Trump said of West in that interview. “He’s been a friend of mine. I’ve known him for a long time. He’s a very different kind of a guy — I say that in a positive way. But he is a different kind of a guy."

the two idiots deserve each other. Maybe when we get trump out of the oval office trump can go on tour with him and be an opening act with his comedy routine.

I don't get why people are freaking out over somebody having a conversation with trump whether you like him or not. Kanye is specifically talking about how to help inner city kids in his hometown of chicago and stop and frisk laws and yet people still freak out because he has the hat on and says he likes trump. He doesn't support his politics. He likes the idea of Trump because just like Kanye somebody told him he couldn't do it, he couldn't be president. he did. People told Kanye he couldn't rap, all he could do was produce. Wrong.

Did you watch Kanye’s rant? It was nonsensical. I think even Trump regretted the whole spectacle.

It's irrelevant to cippy as he likes to complain about "all others" and how they feel. Kanye West is an idiot and trump and him deserve each other.

Im not a trump supporter but I did get to see it and some of what he was talking about i agreed with in regards to just because a person is a certain color why they have to be a certain partisan way. I agree with that 100%. I also agree we need more jobs in the intercity. Im a second amendment guy so i believe in his the there.

I actually thought his rant much more effective than Madonna's that said she thought about blowing up the WhiteHouse.
Just my personal opinion if that ok to do anymore? w/o being attacked.

I agree, it was all over the place. That's always been Kanyes rants. All over the place. However apart from some of the dumb shit he said there were things that should probably be talked about that he brought up such as the stop and frisk thing, issues in chicago and helping the inner city kids and people with jobs. I think those are all positive. The rest of it however was nonsense and typical Kanye madness.

Didn't vote for him. Don't care for him. However I would like this country to succeed and that means for the president as well. That means an open dialogue. Unfortunately in this country we dont have that enough right now and if Kanye and Jim brown can roll up in the oval office and get Trump to change his mind on stop and frisk issues in chicago or anything else that is positive and for the better of this country, that's a win

I hate to say it but unfortunately that whole far left ideology and what you see on CNN think of black people as pets and leverage to this movement. It's another vote. Kanye interacts with trump, oh now he is the enemy or an uncle tom, whatever dumb shit they are saying and it's unacceptable and a large part why I don't watch any news on tv because it's just propaganda at this point. The clip just proves it. Don Lemon over there laughing at this shit meanwhile he tries to be serious on other topics, it's blatantly racist and disgusting. God forbid any black person has a conversation with the president on actual important issues. They turn on people. It's like a damn cult. So while they are sitting there making jokes and being racist, kanye was having a meeting with trump about HELPING inner city kids and trying to make a change regardless of the other dumb shit he said
