Kellen Moore and Boise State look as if they are going to be in the national championship chase for a while. Moore hit Austin Pettis with a 13-yard touchdown pass with 1:09 left and No. 3 Boise State passed what might be its toughest test of the season, beating No. 10 Virginia Tech 33-30 on Monday night. The Broncos (1-0) came to FedEx Field with their best preseason ranking ever and ran out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter, then had to rally themselves to extend their winning streak to 15 games. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=302490259
I don't think it was enough. Boise State is a good team, but are they top five? I don't think so. I wish BSU played in a tougher conference.
Really? What else do they have to do? They are coming off an undefeated system and won what was essentially a road game against a top 10-ish team from a major conference. That would help prove their real level one way or the other... Ed O.
I'm just not a fan of BSU. They play a in a weak conference and if VT is the toughest game they play, well... What if VT ends the seasons with several losses and out of the top 25? BSU struggled with them. Idaho, Nevada, San Jose, New Mexico State, Toledo, Wyoming, etc... Currently, there is ONE team ranked above 25 on BSU's schedule. This is a personal call, but you have to show me more than this to be a "BCS Buster". I will say this, I'll be rooting for Oregon State big time come next week when BSU and OSU square off...
They have one more hard game left. Oregon State. Their weak schedule has to be a question mark for them. That being said, if they play Bama, or the Buckeyes or even teams like Texas for the championship, they lose convincingly
I think the BCS screwed BSU over last year by facing them off against TCU. Both of those programs could have gone a long way to dispel the idea that they're paper tigers if they'd had a chance to play against a team like Cincinnati or another auto-BCS entrant. I will definitely be rooting for OSU, as well, because I want the PAC-10 to get as many good wins as possible, but I'll be surprised if BSU doesn't win convincingly. Ed O.
