    You knew Kiki Vandeweghe was going to figure this one out. You knew the Nuggets GM was going to end the unwavering commitment to mediocrity, to stop wasting cap space on middling stars whose best work came on 42-win teams. Vandeweghe took over before the 2001-02 season, summarily dismissed former coach (and onetime teammate) Dan Issel midway through the campaign, and has been taking care of business ever since...."
