The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Victoria Royals 6-1 on Wednesday night in Kelowna, extending its home winning streak to 16 games and winning its seventh straight game overall.

After a scoreless first period, the Rockets scored five straight goals in the second period to take control of the game.

Six different Rockets scored on the night including defenceman MacKenzie Johnston, who scored his first goal of the season and also added an assist.

Myles Bell, Carter Rigby, Damon Severson, Zach Franko and Ryan Olsen also scored for Kelowna who outshot Victoria 38-18 on the night.

The Rockets home winning streak of 16 straight at Prospera Place is just two shy of the Kelowna record of 18, set back in 2002-03.

Kelowna is back in action at Prospera Place on Friday night when they host the Tri-City Americans.

Tickets are available online here or by phone at 250-762-5050.
