No, Bonds was still better. I don't see the logic of pretending players who used steroids didn't play. Ken Griffey Jr. may be the best player of his generation among those who are currently not suspected of steroids. Depending on how you define "modern day baseball." If Rickey Henderson counts, he was better. If not, Griffey, Thomas and Pujols are probably the best candidates.
