Might be a blessing in disguise for Shamrock.

Kimbo Slice and Ken Shamrock both failed drug tests at Bellator 149, MMA Fighting has learned.

Slice and Shamrock had banned substances in their system per the results of pre-fight drug tests, multiple sources said. Bellator 149 took place Feb. 19 in Houston, Texas.

Both men have been administratively suspended by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) pending an adjudication process, sources said. The official test result documents, showing the exact substances Slice and Shamrock tested positive for, have been withheld by the TDLR due to potential pending litigation. Athletes on the card had urine samples taken before their bouts.

Typically, the maximum discipline for combatants who fail drug tests in Texas is a 90-day suspension and $5,000 fine.

Ferguson's inglorious win over Dada 5000 has been overturned as a result of this drug test failure.

Shamrock appealed his loss citing an illegal blow to the groin by Gracie. Feels like that appeal had little chance of success--now it has no chance.

Goes without saying, I think, that failing a drug test IN TEXAS is tripping over a bar set so low it's practically on the ground.

James Irvin, IIRC, also popped for methadone. Not sure what properties it might have that would help an athlete--or if both Irvin and Shamrock are both recovering addicts.

So both of them were positive for nandrolone, both for testosterone, and Shamrock for an opioid.

Gracie was clean but tested positive for nandrolone last time he fought Matt Hughes.

Tank Abbott couldn't pass a medical in order to step in for Shamrock vs. Dan Severn.

I mean shit, having 50-year olds fighting in MMA is starting to seem like a bad idea.
