http://www.cagepotato.com/2008/01/09/cagep...a-spyder-grove/ Hawaiians have a reputation in the fight world, that reputation being that they are tough and highly skilled, but with a dash of laziness and immaturity thrown into the mix. BJ Penn is a prime example. His family has always had money so he fights for the love of the sport rather than to support himself. It was one of the reasons he bailed on the UFC after taking Matt Hughes' title when nine out of ten guys in his situation would've negotiated a new contract and tried to be top dog in the federation. It's also one of the reasons that people in the sport say he doesn't train hard and gasses-out during fights. He's recently been accused of smoking maryjane by Sean Sherk (a counter-accusation to BJ saying Sherk was a juicer--which, according to the NSAC, he is). Well now we have Kendall Grove stepping into the fray claiming that not only has he smoked reefer since he was in sixth grade, but he still does, and fought the first six fights of his career (3-2-1) while high. He goes so far as to say that three months before a fight he stops smoking up in order to pass the urine test he may undergo following his bout, bringing up Nick Diaz's overturned win over Takanori Gomi as his reason why. Obviously a six-month suspension from the CSAC or NSAC would also be a factor. To top it off he also confessed to doing a lot of drinking, but has supposedly cut back due to his loss to Patrick Cote. Its rare that you hear any pro athlete be this candid, especially to his own detriment. He's certainly not earning points with the UFC with this one.
