I have no problem with her convictions, but she has a job to do.

If her convictions prevented her from doing that job, she should step down from her 80k per year job.

Were they before or after she was born again?

    Why the name calling?

    The bottom line is:

Congress shall make NO LAW respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

She was married to her 1st husband when she got pregnant by the man who would become her 3rd husband. But the man who became her 2nd husband adopted them. After he adopted the kids she divorced him and married the father of the kids. Nice scam! She tricked a man into paying for her kids.

Yet she feels qualified to pass judgement on who should and shouldn't be married.

“The court cannot condone the willful disobedience of its lawfully issued order,” Judge Bunning said. “If you give people the opportunity to choose which orders they follow, that’s what potentially causes problems.”

I find the delving into her personal life distasteful.

Didn't she thrust herself into the middle of other people's personal lives when she refused to issue marriage licenses? She choose to put herself in the spotlight.

    You're right.

Unrelated- if you look at the bottom of the page for 'similar threads', Kentucky is getting some bad press at S2.

Man, what a waste of time and effort by everyone involved. She's clearly in the wrong (and that doesn't require making any statements about her personal life). Since she doesn't feel she can meet the legal requirements of her job due to her spin on her religious beliefs, she ought to quit. If not, the Kentucky legislatuer should impeach her or the good voters of Kentucky should remove her from office at the next election. That said, how tough is it really to get a marriage license issued in another county in Kentucky that has a more reasonable clerk? For what they're spending on legal fees, they could have a nice destination wedding somewhere. No, the couples shouldn't have to do that, but this country is so fricking litigious these days it's ridiculous.

Sign of the apocalypse? I agree with mediocre man. If doing your job violates your conscience to the point where you think it will land you in hell, quit the job.
Yes, 80K per year is in the upper 1% in rural Kentucky, but hey, she'll do a week in jail, make the rounds of the right wing talk shows, have a book deal, and make millions as a Christian martyr.

Her personal life would be no one else's business had she not chosen to set herself up as arbiter. Her Christian bible is very clear on divorce and adultery. And on rendering unto Ceaser. Not a word on marriage equality (probably because back then marriages were arranged and no one cared who the people involved wanted to be with).

She put her hand on the bible and swore an oath to uphold the laws of the State of Kentucky.

Seems the deputy clerks were willing to issue licenses (except her son) but she intimidated them into refusing. Now latest is a deal was brokered whereby they would issue licenses and she would get out of jail; she ordered them to not issue the licenses.

Maybe we didn't feel the need to suck our own dicks by stating how much smarter, more tolerant and sophisticated we are than this stupid bitch?

She's clearly in the wrong, i don't know how you could argue otherwise.

Her end game is to get fired for cause so she can collect unemployment. If she resigns, she likely wouldn't be able to claim unemployment unless she claims hostile work enviroment.
She'll probably file a civil lawsuit as well.
