"If it can be said that an error opened the door for the Astros, then they didn't just walk through that door, they broke it down.

Clutch hits by Cory Sullivan and Jeff Keppinger emphatically reversed what had been a frustrating night in that department as the Astros used a four-run eighth inning to beat the Colorado Rockies 7-3 on Wednesday at Minute Maid Park.

Tommy Manzella's ground ball to second base should have put an end to a 1-2-3 inning, but Colorado second baseman Clint Barmes couldn't come up with it on the backhand.

With the Astros given renewed hope in the inning, pinch hitter Geoff Blum worked a walk, and Sullivan laced a single to left, sending Manzella sliding home with the go-ahead run.

"You've got to take advantage of any opportunity you get with baserunners on," said the lefthanded-hitting Sullivan, who has four hits in his last seven at-bats in a pinch. "Fortunately, Blum had a great at-bat, a good walk, and I just got a pitch over the plate that I could poke out into left field."

Keppinger, who cemented his position as the starting second baseman upon the notice that Kaz Matsui would be waived, set a career high with four runs batted in."
