I'm sure a few links are out by now on a rumor.. But I was watching a show in Cleveland called, "All Bets Are Off" and the Host, Bruce Drennan stated that a source close to him has stated that the Cavs are in trade talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves to acquire Kevin Garnett for Drew Gooden, Sasha Pavlovic, and Larry Hughes[ :no1:] . Take it for what it's worth, but it's the rumor. Bruce went on and on saying how this source is a very good one and that he just doesn't throw out rumors for no reason. But still, if this deal happens I'd shoot myself.Anyway, you can lock this topic or do whatever you want because I don't have a link. But sooner or later one will come out. :\ I think at least, whatever.EDIT-- And a 1st rounder.. next year or 09, not sure.. Maybe both, who knows. :\

I know Hughes is your favorite player, but trading him to get KG would be great for Cleveland. LeBron and KG would be a dynamic duo and would probably take the Eastern Conference by storm.

No way in Hell would the Wolves do that. those three guys are junk, and any draft picks would be absolutly worthless.

You'd shoot yourself if Lebron was teamed up with another top 10 player?

The rest of the league has already had discussion with the Timberwolves about KG. It's clear that Kevin McHale won't pull the trigger on a deal that is any less than extraordinary. From what I see , if this is true, the Cavaliers have offered three role players who will all help on both ends of the floor. The value being traded is about as near equal as you can get when KG is involved but the Timberwolves would never do this.If Kevin Garnett is traded the Timberwolves clearly will have decided that it's time to rebuild. Larry Hughes is 28 and Drew Gooden is 26, both are in their prime right now and neither are expiring. What the Timberwolves need are good draft picks, expiring contracts, and young players. Now Hughes and Gooden are still not too old so it would not scare the Timberwolves away. It's actually still pretty attractive but is it enough?Pavlovic (24) is pretty young but I'm sure that the Timberwolves would request Daniel Gibson. If history repeats itself the Cavaliers will not give up Daniel Gibson. The Timberwolves have not traded Kevin Garnett away because teams were not willing to give up guys like Andres Biedrens and Andrew Bynum. I seriousely doubt the Cavaliers will be any different as they want to hold on to their young stud. Daniel Gibson will force Danny Ferry to not trade for KG.---BTW, Cavsrule, if Hughes gets traded does your name change to 'Wolvesrule'? :dribble:

Kevin Garnett > Larry HughesNo matter if the Cavs lose their best guard. LeBron will be their top scorer as always and KG will give them the rebounding/defense in the post they've needed and will be the second scoring option. Now, would that help them get to the Finals next year- I still doubt it.

If LeBron teamed up with KG, the rest of the East's playoff spots would just be pointless to fight for, really. They would dominate the East, and I hope McHale realizes that they're not getting the best package they can get. Personally, I think Minnesota needs to calm down with the KG trade talks and just settle with the team they have. I mean come on, look at this lineup:PG Randy FoyeSG Ricky DavisSF Corey BrewerPF Kevin GarnettC Mark BlountBench: Trenton Hassell, Marko Jaric, Juwan Howard, and Craig Smith. That's not a bad team, at all, not good enough to be a top five team in the West, but still, there are some nice players on that team and they should keep them around KG. It's all about stability and continuity for the Timberwolves right now, I think. That bench is good for solid defense, as well, because you're already getting scoring from KG, Davis, and Foye in the lineup.I don't know, but I just think they need to cool it with the trade talks.. because KG is a very loyal guy and still has faith in the Timberwolves organization.

If they can get there with Big Z and Gooden as their options downlow, I imagine they would have a great shot at getting there with Garnett as the option. Depth may end up being a problem, but guys like Shannon Brown would get a shot to step up and prove themselves. When LeBron is off, the Cavs lose because they don't have another consistent option. Adding Garnett would fix that.

Kevin Mchale would be crazy if he didn't do this. KG can opt out next year, and if he walks and goes to a team that won't require a sign and trade to get him, the Wolves are left with nothing to rebuild on. If they pull the trigger on this deal, they get a nice SG in Hughes, a very solid young PF in Gooden, and another good young player in Pavlovic. If they also get draft picks, then they'd be crazy to turn this down...it's probably the most they will get for KG.For the Cavs, great deal, although they'd still need to sign a new PG as without Hughes, it force Bron to handle the ball even more.

The Big Ticket is 31 years old now. The next couple of years are probabely his last chance to win a championship while leading a team. All Minnesota should be looking at is the future, they have too many young pieces right now to contend and their leader is too old to wait for Foye and Brewer to develop. Garnett should also realize that he won't be able to produce 20/12 at 36 years old. If he doesn't get traded this off-season I'll be shocked if he doesn't opt out next off-season.

Sure, Garnett could give them 20 and 13 and LeBron 25 and 10, but I just don't think that duo would break Detroit, especially if LeBron isn't doing well in a playoff game and they don't have another option to step it up besides KG.

Cavs should jump on that, Wolves no. They should be looking for cap relief, young players and draft picks. Why take on Gooden and Hughes? And Pavlovic, he's a free agent and despite being young, I just don't see much potential in him. Watching him in the playoffs, he comes off offensively as a shooter who can't shoot. His strength is probably his defense but he's not a shut down type, so he's just a ok role player. That does not help Wolves rebuild, which they should if they plan to move KG.

Its not like I wont root on my Cavaliers if this trade went done, hell, after a little while I'd be cheering KG on like Larry Hughes wasn't even a Cavalier before. And we made it to the finals last year, how are we not contenders? Its not really a horrible deal for Minnesota, either. They get Sasha and Gooden who are young and are starting to do well in this league, and Hughes who is a vet that is still pretty young. They would also get I think a 09 draft pick in the 1st round, even though our 1st wont be high.

Firstly, Pavlovic would need to be a sign and trade forcing a contract upon the Timberwolves. Larry Hughes is 28 right now and not expiring while Gooden is 26 and not expiring. Why do the Timberwolves need either of these players? Minnesota doesn't plan on winning alot of games next season. All Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden will do is fill up cap space for the stellar 08 Free Agent class. The '08 first as you said will not be the least bit high.I stated before that Daniel Gibson would definetely need to be included in this trade and will probabely prevent anything from happening as Danny Ferry does not want to give up 'Boobie'. I could also see the Timberwolves requesting a second rounder and/or a future first.

To everyone who says this trade is bad for Minnesota...How many teams who want KG are gonna give up much better talent than what Cleveland would be giving up? GS would be giving them very little talent, not of it proven, and the potential isn't very high. The LA/Minnesota/Boston 3 way deal would be giving them 2 throw aways and 2 players far from polished or proven, and I believe nearing the ends of their rookie contracts, potentially leaving them with nothing to rebuild on.With the Cleveland trade, they are getting 2 young players and a proven 20PPG scorer. If they want to go totally through with rebuilding, Hughes would be nice trade bait to get even more young talent. Either way, Minnesota can't afford to be extremely picky. They won't have a ton of buyers, and with KG being able to opt out next year, they need something in return instead of letting him walk.

Actually, I think Gooden is a free-agent next year.. So the only player they would be stuck with is Larry Hughes and maybe Sasha, who they would want if they were gonna do any kinda deal. If they do this deal, why would they wanna get rid of the players they just traded for? They don't get much in picks. Regardless, this trade wont happen. Impossible is a word I like to use.
