During his junior season, he threw for 1200 yards and 12 touchdowns, and added 500 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. He committed to Michigan on April 24, 2008. When the words "dual-threat" are used to describe a quarterback, the first thought that usually enters the minds of fans everywhere is that the prospect can only run and not pass. That's not Newsome. He is a legitimate dual-threat player and is able to beat you with both his arm and his legs. He has outstanding size and is an athletic freak. His pocket presence is outstanding and his mobility once the pocket collapses allows him to break off big runs on plays that would otherwise have been a sack. In the passing aspect of his game, he excels mainly on short routes, though he does have a decent enough arm to make a big throw down field. He needs to improve his mechanics and his accuracy to eventually realize his full potential.</font></td> </tr> </table> </body> </html>
Michigan's future at quarterback: Rich Rodriguez's 2009 targets | Detroit Free Press <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Kevin Newsome: Ht: 6-foot-3 Wt: 210 lbs Forty: 4.57 secs GPA: 3.7 • Visited Michigan during its spring game last Saturday. • Notable Offers: Nebraska, North Carolina, Penn State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia • Four-star prospect and the No. 18 overall player in the 2009 class according to Rivals.com Bottom line: More of a run-first QB than Forcier, Newsome brought Michigan toward the top of his list when Terrelle Pryor chose Ohio State over Michigan in March. "Of course it is going to change it because Terrelle Pryor is a beast," he told TheWolverine.com. "With him not being there it really puts Michigan up there on my list." Newsome wants to make his decision by the end of the summer and could potentially enroll early so he can partake in that teams’ winter and spring workouts. One potential barrier for Michigan: Newsome has previously stated he’d prefer to play in a pro-style offense.</div>
Committed to Michigan. He's definitely the answer to their QB problems; too bad he can't be there for 2008 though.
