Florida high school star Dooling signs with Heat By Harvey Fialkov and Ira Winderman Staff Writers Posted July 22 2004 It worked so well with Lamar Odom last season that the Heat will bring back hometown standout Keyon Dooling in an effort to boost a career that had also floundered in his first four seasons with the Clippers. Unable to land its top two choices for the backup point guard position -- Damon Jones and Mike James -- because of salary differences, the Heat has signed Dooling, a spindly 6-foot-3, free-agent point guard, to a one-year contract with a player's option for the second year. Dooling starred for Cardinal Gibbons and Dillard before attending Missouri for two years. </div> Full Story Keyon can be good, I hope this works out like the Lamar Odom era did.. Lamar comes from LAC and becomes amazing and now hopefully Keyon does the same..
Interesting, Wade and Dooling, I'd like to see how Dooling plays in another enviroment, I was hoping the Raptors would get him, didn't think the Heat were even pursuing him, more losses for the Clippers.
Seems a pointless signing, Miami needed a PG who can open things up for Shaq inside. Dooling shot 14% from behind the arc last season, The heat need him to jump that % back up to what it was in the 02/03 season. but I guess If they couldn't afford James or Jones this was the best option.
arghhhhh this drives me crazy as a dooling fan! damnt! i wanted the lakers to get him even though he does us absolutely no good...at least i would have gotten to watch him play still ;(

Hey remember when horry got open 3s?
Well this signing is not gona help the heat much or hurt the heat. Dooling is a good role player he will never be any thing more than that for the heat like he never was more than that for the clippers. He may get some more playing time with the heat though and boast his points a little, but wont be winning most improved player.
Dwyane is still going to be the starting PG regardless of any free agent signings, I just wish we had resigned Skip before Toronto offered him that massive contract, but Dooling will only be making the minimum so it's not bad at all, infact it's a great bargain for what you're getting. Most players in Clipper land never perform to their full potential until they're traded away or sign with another team in the offseason, so i'm expecting good things from Dooling.
