I'm not talking about the past but now that both teams are about equal do you think this is going to be a great rivalry for years to come and who is going to come out on top
no it won't even be a rivalry this year. the T'wolves will lose to the kings or the mavs. If you get whopped by the nuggets, you're going nowhere!
KG is more athletic and probably a better all-around player. Duncan is more skilled around the basket and is a stronger defensive presence. Its VERY close, though.
It might become a rivarly, but it will likely never reach the heights of Bird vs Magic. Although, in fairness, that's probably one of the toughest examples in all of sports to aspire to be. It wasn't manufactured, as alot of rivarlys are these days. Bird and Magic started it in college and then when they went to the C's and Lakeshow, it grew on it's own. They also both had well documented mutual respect and admiration for each other, something that many players today don't have. That's not a shot at KG vs Duncan, just a statement towards today's "rivalries" in general. There is one thing about this potential rivarly that I can pretty much say with certainty: Until KG and the Wolves win, or get significant'y close to winning a championship, this will never get the kind of attention or attain the lustre that true classic rivarlies have.

In the regular season, it's a great rivalry that will end 2 - 2 almost every year, but post-season, there is no question who has the edge in that argument.
I agree with what durvasa said. I personally think Kevin Garnett is better than Tim Duncan by a hair. But since KG and Duncan werent going at each other since the beginning. I see Carmelo and LeBron as more of a mirror image of Magic and Bird.
They do not really compete once another, it's more like simply a battle of the best for KG and Duncan and so it can't really be a comparison. Magic and Bird were actually rivals, also friends, I've never really seen anything go between Duncan and KG except fighting for the MVP.
its a rivalry but comparing it to Magic-Bird??? No way...they havent played in enough close playoff games against each other yet to have any sort of rivalry except for the standard regular season games...
