This has been a big splinter in my bill with the DUCKS all year! Our kick off coverage is awful. At USC we begged Lee to kill us time and time again, and guess what? He did! One kick off every game we botch the shit out of it, either do to overpursueing or crappy form tackling or just botched lane assignments! The beavs have a few speedsters and if we don't correct this in a hurry, it may bite us in the ass again! I'm tired of our kick off teams putting our defense in awful spots time and time again! Thoughts?
According to CFBstats (Pretty cool site) Oregon is pretty middle of the pack on Average per return of 21.47/YPR They come in at 69th in the nation in that Category. Kansas St which (according to many experts) is a team that is sound and excellent in all 3 phases of the game (Offense/Defense/Special Teams) comes in at 89th with 22.92 yards per return. Notre Dame comes in at 81st, and Bama at 84th. Sure some good players can make people miss. But all in all I've been ok with the coverage. Lofting it up gives our ultra quick players time to get down there and force field position further than the 25 (where a Touchback is placed now instead of the 20) I'm trying to see if I can find avg starting field position on the site, but no luck yet.
