Big mistake by Avery last night. You trade half your team for a guy, then take him out in crunch time. Talk about sending a message that you know he can't shoot and you don't have a much confidence in a guy. I don't want to hear that he doesn't know the plays. He's Jason Kidd and he's been there for 4 games now. If you aren't going to play him there, why did you trade 4 guys and 2 first rounders for him??? Don't get me wrong though, thank God you did make that trade, wooohooo!
Avery is goning to have to do some brilliant coaching to make up for that. He needs to regain the confidence of his owner and his players now. Anyone think Avery is better than Frank?

While I do believe coach should light the fire under his players asses, especially when things go very bad, I'd stick with Frank if I had to choose between those two. It'll be interesting to see how things go between Kidd and Avery from now on. "Be careful of what you wish for" indeed.

He inherited a lot of offensive schemes from Nelson, but added the defense they were sorely lacking. As the personnel changes and he needs to impliment more of his own ideas they are struggling. Also, as they struggle he becomes more controlling, which pushes his players further away. When all was going well everything was ok.
1 word..STUPIDITY i was watching the game and i couldnt belive it, i dont think kidd could believe he wasnt in the game either its the potential game winning play and you sit the HOF Point guard you just traded your future for?!!! his explanation after the game was that they wanted to have shooters on the court to spread the floor...well geez who is going to pass the ball and find those shooters?? uhhh maybe jason kidd ? dont you think? idk why but i was angry at avery for being so stupid and im not even a mavs fan, maybe its because i know kidd is better than that to just be watching from the sidelines on a game winning play they deserved to lose and if im mark cuban i make sure i speak with avery about that
I think Nelson is Byron Scottish....he wants his players to be confident and pushes the players very hard in practice.......Kidd get fed up with Byron Scott, so it might happen that he'll want to (or already wants to) run Avery out town I would choose Frank over just about any coach (Pat Riley and Phil Jackson are exceptions). Rember how young Frank is: still under 40.

It's not like there was less than a second on the clock and they had a trick in bounds play they were looking to do.

Avery said that he took Kidd out because he wanted shooters. His thinking was that he didn't want Dirk to be doubled on a last second possession. The result was a Terry-Dirk pick and roll where TERRY COULDN'T GET DIRK THE BALL. No way that happens if Kidd's running the play. Basically, the whole thing blew up in Avery's face, and it's compounded by the fact that Harris looks liberated now that he's no longer playing for Captain Queeg.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>maybe thats why he WASNT in the game at the end?</div> Kidd helped keep Dallas on track against SA with his playmaking ability. Why the hell would you take him out in the closing seconds? And if you're talking about horrid shooting, Terry was 2-10 that game.
