<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jason Kidd is about to finish an extraordinary season, even by his standards. By putting up 13 points, 9 assists and eight rebounds a game, Kidd will join only Magic Johnson and Oscar Robertson in an elite group of players with near triple-double averages for an entire season. Yet an informal poll of fellow writers by Dave D'Alessandro reveals that Kidd's chances of making even the third team all-NBA are very small.</div>

That would suck for Kidd if he doesn't make it to the NBA third team. Big O was crazy that season he did average a triple double if I remember correctly he had like 30 points as well

I don't know if Kidd will reach Robertson's triple double numbers, but he will be close, and be remembered as Mr. Triple Double.

Fat Lever is going unmentioned in this article. Fat was averaging something like 19/9/8 back in my high school days. And he was only 6'3". Someone needs to tell Dave.

How can you say his triple doubles are overrated? Who has done what he has since Magic and Robertson? He has led the NBA in triple doubles for the last few years. And by big margins at that. This season he has 12. Kevin Garnett and Iguodala are the closest to him with only 3. On the top 5 list of all-time leaders in triple doubles, Kidd is the smallest at 6"4. No disrespect to Robertson's time, but players now are taller, faster and more agile. Which makes Kidd's triple doubles even more amazing. To think his triple doubles are overrated is simply lacking knowledge of the game. I guess your one of those people who thinks the game is all about scoring. [IMG]

It's a good thing your opinion means nothing since you aren't even able to articulate a grammatically correct sentence.

here then "I said it before and i will say it again... his triple doubles are over rated"

Let me explain myself... for me Kidd is a phenomenal player and one of the best court generals to play the game, but just like kobe's 50+ games (im saying this even if i think KB is the #1 player in the league), they're overrated. How? well its only my opinion but when oscar robertson averaged a triple double or stats near a triple double they did good, care to say an NBA championship ring and likewise with magic. However, Kidd's team is under .500 and are lucky enough to be 6th in the east due to all the other teams that have proved to be disappointments. Kidd has around half or less of his triple doubles in losses, which for me is a bad thing. Maybe Kidd really deserves the credit for the triple double and his teammates deserve the blame for the loss, but to put it straight triple doubles (or 50 pt games) SHOULD be paired with W's.

Sorry if some of you were offended with my 1st post... yeah it was short and to the point, i was not able to explain it due to my lack of time [IMG] [IMG]

Nets record this season is is 9-3 when Kidd gets a triple double. Overall 65-22 during his career.

That pretty much kills your argument.

Lol, what a ridiculously bad argument, Kobe, or whoever the hell you wanna pass yourself off as...

If anything Kidd's triple doubles are even more difficult to get in the game today than what Big O and Magic did back in their day. There were more possessions back then due to a quicker pace, significantly higher scoring, so boards and assists were more available to be acheived. Notice I didn't say it was easier, but just more available. During Big O's time, the athletes were questionable, and any semblance of defense was pretty much non existent. Now, during Magic's time, whoa, look out. His acheivements are much more interesting (but you gotta also see he had Kareem and Worthy to dime to) due to the era in which he played. Superstars everywhere, the introduction of a more athletic game, serious D, geez basically, the stuff of legends, and legends were playing.
