QUOTE

It's not that Boston didn't help itself by acquiring Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett. It's just that Jason Kidd likes what Toronto did last season, winning the division, and what they have done over the off-season, adding outside shooting and athleticism. "Everybody forgets about them. If they can stay healthy, they'll be right there," says Kidd. Meanwhile, Al Iannazzone, writing for Pro Basketball News, does an analysis of blockbuster trades, including the Net trade for Kidd, and likes Boston's chances.

Do you really expect Kidd to come and say, they're the favorites in the Division? Kidd's going to try to make it happen, and not by saying it. It's possible for the Nets to be the top team in the Atlantic Divsion again, it all depends on how they play throughout the season. If they start off slow, and Boston doesn't, it's going to be a chasing game all year.

I don't know if a team coached by Sam Mitchell can withstand actual competition.

I agree with him. I don't see Boston winning the division, though it should be a great race.

I hate to kind of agree with this, but yea. He has very simplistic plays, which can hurt us a lot. I mean, the Nets, found out what we did, and just collapsed on Bosh, while Sam Mitchell had no answer, but I think this year can be different. With Kapono keeping guys on the perimeter, Parker slashing and catch-and-shoot. Bargnani with the 3 and his quickness for a 7 footer and Bosh...nuff said.

The offensive talent is incredibly good, but the Raps need a coach that makes them play defense.

AP sets the tone, but if he misses any time I don't know if Mitchell can get them to stop anyone.

Honestly, sometimes I don't know if Mitchell even cares about that end of the floor. He seems content to just outscore the other team. That's a bad mentality.

The good news is that Boston is far more likely to be done in by their coach.

Well, he lets his players play, which sometimes I like and sometimes I don`t. I love our offense, but, our defense does need to improve. I`m tired of getting horribly out rebounded every night. But, I mean, we won 47 games, we can more this year, and maybe, just MAYBE, Mitchell will have a better game plan.

AP is a good defender, he can dictate where his man is going to go, but other then Bosh behind him, our help sometimes lacks. I rather we score less and win, but play great defense.

i think, at times, Frank has even more simplistic plays. if we didn't have Kidd to make this offense better, and had someone like, for example, Billups, we would suck 1434 times worse (at least).

Tho, i gotta love Frank's defensive mentality. and the addition of Hill will only make the defense better...i just hope this year, we find some better offense...somehow

I think you've got to pay Toronto lip service because they won it last year, but although it'll be a three team race, I'm expecting Boston and us to be the top 2 serious contenders.

I think 4 teams will really be fighting for that division. Don't count out the Knicks, they could be the "Dark Horse" of the Eastern Conference. With a front court of Curry-Randolph you could have one of the best rebounding duo's in the East. Along with Crawford, Balkman, Marbury and Robinson. With some rookies like Chandler, they could surprise a lot of people. The 76ers aren't really gunna be competing because they are way to young and with to many rookies in the line-up.

The Knicks might be able to hold off the Sixers, Pacers and Bucks if everything goes perfectly.

^I think they can, because Curry - Randolph can be dangerous if used right. The Pacers might not be able to do much, I don't see much improvement in their team, and the Bucks should be better, but we'll see and the Sixers, again are young, but you never know.

All I'm saying is, don't count out the Knicks.
