I think Jason Kidd is one of those players that can turn a franchise around he carried the Nets to the Finals when the Lakers beat them. If he were to be added to the mix with Kobe it would be insane. I say we throw in Lamar Odom + Kwame + Smush + Chris Mihm +Aaron Mckie + 1st round picks + Cash for Kidd + Jason Richardson + Jason Collins this seems fair for both teams and since the Nets are rebuilding its perfect for them. I know Richardson is in the same position as Kobe but he could prob play SF, he's that Scottie Pippen type player the Lakers desperately need. I am keeping hope alive please mitch do it!!!!!!!.... this is torture sooooo close [IMG]

Perhaps he wants to get the Warriors involved in this deal. However, I don't think they will settle for anything less than Kidd, if they decide to trade Richardson.

I'd rather acquire Vince Carter than Richard Jefferson if the Lakers were going to make that blockbuster deal. Richard Jefferson's contract is hideous and his health concerns worry me.

If the Lakers acquire Carter and Kidd, they give themselves a 3 year window to win with the trio of Kobe-Kidd-Carter, which about right.

you forget one thing - Rod Thorn is not dating Lamar Odom's mom. That's about the ONLY way he gives up 2 stars for a sorry underachiever and a bunch of role players.

Exactly. The Nets are definitely not interested in Odom and his 3-year, 40-million dollar contract. The only reason they will trade Carter or Kidd is to get cap relief, which they don't get.

If the Lakers didn't waive Brian Grant (15.5 mill) they could have done a Grant (expiring contract) + 1st rounder for Kidd (18 mill)

But I'm don't know if Buss would be willing to add that much salary to his roster for the next couple years.

Please people, stop kidding yourselves. Why would the Nets want to give up their two best stars in return for a guy like Lamar, who you guys don't even want?
