Jason Kidd has FINALLY asked for a trade. He wants to be sent to a contending team. The only team that can give them anything of value in return, IMO, are the Lakers.
But, for a team that needs bigs, do we trade for J-Kidd? It will strengthen our already strong backcourt, and weaken our front court.

So, I devised a fantasy trade (no surprise there) that will improve our squad, but will give us a couple of deadbeat contracts as well.

Lakers Trade
Lamar Odom
Kwame Brown
Jordan Farmar

Lakers Receive
Brian Cardinal
Damon Stoudamire (S&T)
Pau Gasol

Nets Trade
Jason Kidd

Nets Receive
Jordan Farmar
Lamar Odom

Grizzlies Trade
Pau Gasol
Brian Cardinal
Damon Stoudamire (S&T)

Grizzlies Receive
Kwame Brown
Jason Kidd

It's no surprise that Gasol wants out of Memphis, and this way they get rid of a bad contract and receive an expiring contract and Jason Kidd, can't lose there. The Lakers receive Cardinal's ugly contract, and Stoudamire whose only worth about $2M, and they get Pau Gasol who would be a great complement to Andrew Bynum. Since we have too many PGs, we can just waive/buyout Stoudamire right here. The Nets may trade Marcus Williams as well, so they get a young, promising PG in Jordan Farmar. I really don't want to trade Farmar, but it's the only way the Nets say 'yes' to this deal. They also receive LO who may be the most valuable player they are offered for Jason Kidd.

I don't think the Nets want our Garbage (Luke and Odom).Farmar and 1st round pick would be all that might interest them.Maybe even Kwame.

If Kidd wants to go to a contender why would he agree to play for the Grizzlies WITHOUT Gasol? The Grizzlies have Mike Conley as the future PG they don't want to kill his playing time backing up Jason Kidd.

If the Lakers could some how end up with Kidd and the Nets with Gasol it would probably be a reasonable deal. I'm not sure what the Grizzlies would want back from the Lakers. We don't have any young big men besides Drew who would have any appeal for them.

For cheap yeah, but I wouldn't break the bank for him. I'd offer them Lamar, but I don't see why they would want him in return. So maybe a couple of expirings (Kwame and Sasha) plus either Javaris or Jordan and picks for Kidd? If the Nets reject the deal, then good luck finding Kidd a new home.

Btw, when did Kidd demand a trade? Link?

The Lakers should not break bank trying to acquire Kidd. The Nets are more desperate to get something back for Jason than the Lakers are on acquiring him.

Kwame, Farmar or Crittenton and some picks should do it.

Honestly, I'm not even interested in Kidd for Farmar/Crittenton anymore. If I were Mitch, I tell him you take either one of these two packages or you're not interested in dealing:

Kwame Brown, Vladimir Radmanovic, Sasha Vujacic, and a 1st round pick for Kidd...

or...

Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown, 1st Round Pick for Jason Kidd, Jamaal Magloire.

Trade 1 Lineup
Jason Kidd/Jordan Farmar
Kobe Bryant/Derek Fisher/Javaris Crittenton
Luke Walton/Trevor Ariza
Lamar Odom/Ronny Turiaf
Andrew Bynum/Jamaal Magloire

Trade 2 Lineup
Jason Kidd/Jordan Farmar
Kobe Bryant/Derek Fisher/Javaris Crittenton
Luke Walton/Trevor Ariza
Ronny Turiaf/Vladimir Radmanovic
Andrew Bynum/Jamaal Magloire

Yeah, I know Nets fans probably hate these deals, but I think Farmar has stepped up way too much to trade him away for a player with about two years max left in him.

Better than Dumpy's $1 buyout, I guess.

Damn, really?

Give your honest opinion about Kidd and what you think it would take for the Lakers to get him? How many years does Kidd have left, how much can he help the Lakers? Is he playing hard for NJ? How ugly is his jumper? etc..

I honestly love line up 2!I wouldn't mind putting Kobe at 3 and having Fish and Kidd in the back court.
Come on Do it Mitch!

His jumper is generally pretty ugly, although occasionally he has his streaks. I think he can make the difference if you guys get Bynum back. If not, he'll get you into the playoffs but you won't be able to win the whole enchilada.

At this point the Nets are so bad that they have no leverage in negotiations. As I said in a previous Nets thread, I think the best deal for the Nets to get rid of Carter or Kidd will be from one of the western conference teams stuck in that ~28 win log jam from seeds 1 - 8. What the Nets should shoot for is something that we got Carter for : scrub contracts / young players to match salaries, and a first round draft pick or two. That way the other team gets to keep its prime players and elevate their status from one of the better teams in the west, to one of the best.

I prefer the $1 buyout. I might even pay him $1 for each game remaining for the life of the contract. I would also announce the offer at a press conference.

Mamba, just wondering, you wouldn't be interested in Kwame Brown, Sasha Vujacic (both expirings), Vladimir Radmanovic, Javaris Crittenton, and picks for Jason Kidd?

pg: Kidd, Fisher, Farmar (can play the 2 at times)
sg: Bryant, Karl
sf: Ariza, Patterson*, Walton
pf: Odom, Turiaf
c: Bynum, Webber*, Mbenga, Mihm

* - Free agents. I'm sure Patterson and Webber would be more than happy to jump aboard if we acquire Kidd
