This board is always poppin', so I figured I'd give it a shot here. Since sunday early evening I've had some mild-moderate kidney pain. On Sunday it hurt whether I walked, sat down, laid down, w/e. I woke up Monday feeling fine, but Monday night it started acting up again @ the gym. It is now Tuesday morning and my left kidney has been throbbing since I woke up. But it seems to only be when I'm not moving. I had to drive to school and it acted up, I walked to class and it was fine. Sitting in class it acted back up. Now I'm in the library and it is throbbing again. Now, Saturday night I went out with my girl and some friends and I drank a shit load of alcohol. Before the night was over, I set out some tylenol and some water on my pillow so I didn't forget to take some. However, I woke up drunk and forgot I took some the night before and took 4 more Ibuprofen. Could it just be digesting all the alcohol and med beat my kidneys up? I've got no problems taking a leak and no severe pain that would be associated with kidney stones, kidney infections, or a UT infection. I've got a doc appt. @ 3 today, but I just got some nervousness right now beacuse kidney stones run on my mom's side of the family.
I have no advice I can give you, but I am curious how you know it's your kidney and not some other internal organ?
Maxie's was my question as well. I know that lower back pain can be confused for something going on with the internal organs, but wonder if vice-versa applies. With your story about the alcohol, the medicine, working out, etc....I'm also wondering if you're staying hydrated. Either way, I hope it works out.
I just hope it is from my stupid night of binge drinking and not something more serious like a kidney infection or even worse...a kidney stone! That is my worst nightmare. God, I've dreaded those forever. Hopefully the doc just tells me I was too hard on my body and it caused some swelling. Because the right side is all better now, hopefully the left side will be better by tomorrow. Anyone else here everhave any kidney problems?
probably shouldn't have taken Advil with booze. might be dehyrated. next time man up and drink a beer or bloody mary the morning after.
I had some recent kidney pain and slight infection. My doctor ordered me to drink tons of water for a few weeks and that took care of it.
I'm also doubtful that it's your kidneys. Sounds more like appendicitis to me, but then I'm no doctor. Hope you get a resolution soon.
I have chronic kidney stones, and its no fun. But i've had plenty of kidney pain that wasn't stone related, but my kidney is seriously fucked up (left one).
Dr. will answer your questions. I have had quite a few kidney stones... and it could be the start of that or an infection. If your kidney gets blocked you will know it... it is the worst pain I have ever experienced. Four ibuprofin? Be careful... especially with that an alcohol. Didn't Shaq damage his liver like that? Your liver and take a lot of abuse and fix itself but don't try to kill it. Read the warnings on the label... seriously... I used to drink regularly and too ibuprofin because I run a lot of my liver was definitely huring. Very bad combo.
4 Ibuprofen is safe to take (800mg). I doubt that is what is causing it, but chronic use of high dosage many times a day will start messing things up. I think Ibuprofen messes w/ your kidneys, and acetaminophen messes with your liver.
He should be pulling up to the doctors office right about now....The anticipation is building!....lol
Urine work came back right! You guys were right! Not the kidneys! Muscle spasms n a strained muscle. WTF did I do Saturday night? Pain pills. Muscle relaxers. A lower back brace.
So what do I win?!?! Seriously, glad it worked out more normal than you'd thought. BTW, I've found that with increasing age comes decreasing flexibility to do funky dance moves. Even while imbibing.
I'll mail you a Kobe jersey! :] Yeah, doc said I need to stretch more. I still want to know how I did this, though! Maybe it's best I don't remember!
Uh, he's 21, Brian. I think he's going to be flexible for quite awhile yet. Glad to hear it's not serious, Black Mamba. You can relax again!
