    Kiki coach hunting in WNBA

Even though Bzdelik has done an outstanding job helping to build a solid foundation, he and Vandeweghe have different visions. As a player, Kiki was part of the up-tempo, Doug Moe-coached Nuggets, and as general manager, he wants to see them running, scoring and entertaining. Bzdelik is a Pat Riley clone who wants to build his team around defense.

Making things more interesting for the Nuggets is that while Bzdelik and most of his staff are on one-year contracts, Vandeweghe has given Michael Cooper a three-year deal to be an assistant coach. Speculation in Denver is that Cooper is being groomed as the next head coach. But if the Nuggets continue to improve, it's tough to imagine Bzdelik not being retained.

Really surprising when I read this. I thought this coach wasing doing really good in this francise. I also thought he'd be there for a while.

o im not the least bit surprised. theres be speculation that Jeff's gonna go ever since the end of our playoff run. however since Bzdelik made the playoffs according to his contract he was garunteed a one year extension. so this is basically how i see it. around halfway through the season if the Nuggets aren't pace to reach 50 wins then bye bye buzz.(kiki can just buy out the contract) If they are on pace which i tihnk they will be then the head coach is keeping his job. Even so at the the end of the year i bet Kiki is searching for the new coach of the denver nuggets.

It sucks... offense will not win games. Yeah it's fun to watch teams get up and running but if they keep losing or have a so-so record, you'll feel tired of watching them again very quick. But I don't think Kiki can do anything about it since their biggest acquisition player (aka K-Mart) focuses his play around defense. As long as this team wins games, we wouldn't see Mike coach the Nuggets anytime soon. And, wasn't Cooper himself a defensive player of the year in 1988 sth?

Come on, the 4th highest scoring average in the entire NBA isn't good enough for Kiki?

I live in Australia :P but I know Kiki and Jeff didn't really get along ... but if team record and playoff success live to expectations then personal matters shouldn't come between these two guys. Kiki must then extend Jeff's contract or he might end up looking like a jerk.

Well look at it this way.If the nuggets reach 50 wins this seaosn it'll help his case to keep he job, not neecassarily garuntee it tho. If they dont, he HAS garunteed his unemployment.

^hmmm agreed. Yeah no doubt I see even during the season if the Nugs are not doing as well as they should, Jeff would get axed. The team owner wants the Nugs to finish the season as no less than a 4th seed... that's really like saying to Jeff, "that's why Mike Cooper is here."
