I remember Cool Nutz rappin' about the Killingsworth Swap Meet in his epic ballad "Playervision". :MARIS61:
I love that my man Mr. Nutz making a post on here. Great guy, grew up going K-12 with him. Our kids now go to school together.
Whatever happened to Cool Nutz? I went to a couple of his shows back in the day. I hung out with Cool Nutz once. A good childhood friend of mine dated (if you call being his Portland pussy "dated") Nikatina, and Nik and Cool Nutz have done a ton of shows together. So I've hung with Nik a few times, but I thought Cool Nutz was dope. Super chill dude. Nik was ragging on me for being the only white dude hanging out with all them one particular night, but Cool Nutz was like "it's Portland. What do you expect? It's not often the whites are outnumbered here." or some shit like that.
Terrance Scott is his "slave" name...HAHA! Great guy, still touring and putting out music. He actually promotes and brings a lot of smaller hip hop acts here to town. Still lives here in the neighborhood. Had lunch with him a could months ago. Quality guy. http://coolnutz.net
Yeah, just googled him. I see where Cool Nutz and Nikatina just had a concert together in Seattle for New Year's Eve.
Check you out knowing all my peeps. Romone Blackburne was his name. Grew up 2 blocks from me. Haven't seen him since the late 90s. Brian Grant actually bought and took over Marquis in like 2000, but it just didn't work out and he shut it all down. Ramone contacted me when the Blazers were out playing the Nets about 3 years ago. Got him tix and was able to meet up. He is in NYC doing clothing design. One of my close boys growing up. Always landed on his feet.
Yeah, Anthony was his brother. Really cool guy. We've talked about this in the past, but yeah, his parents were also cool. Owned the Raleigh Hills Raquet Club. Portland was a small place back in the day. Grant High school right? you probably knew some of the filipinos I knew back then, forget most of their names now though.
