TUF contestant Justin Wren told the TapouT radio people that there is a story floating around about Kimbo at ATT (American Top Team). Supposedly he went to train with them, him being from Miami and them being situated there, and was doing some grappling. As he's told everyone, tapping is for bitches, so when he was put in an armbar by one of the instructors or sparring partners there, he didn't quit, and got his elbow bent. The story goes that Kimbo didn't appreciate the guy trying to hurt him, which may or may not have been the case, and he stormed out of the gym. When he returned he had a piece on him but was stopped at the door. Wren claims that Slice justified it by saying that if someone was intentionally trying to hurt him, end his career, the way he provides for his family, then he had to do something about it. In the same interview Wren also suggests that Kimbo's time training with Bas Rutten was exaggerated by all involved. Slice and Rutten are feuding at the moment after Rutten called him out, saying he was a disinterested student and a jerk. Wren claims that Slice was only training with Rutten pre-fight, like a day or a couple of days prior to the actual events. He wasn't spending a full six-to-eight week training camp with him--which might explain why Slice came into TUF without much polish. Finally, other contestants on the show were made aware early on that messing with Kimbo's beard as he slept would result in some serious conflict, so it may or may not have happened.
Re: Kimbo pulled a gun at ATT Miami? Kimbo's beard is fucking awesome. You deserve the death penalty if you fuck with that shit.
Re: Kimbo pulled a gun at ATT Miami? It seems Kimbo is back training with ATT, so I suppose bridges have been rebuilt.
I find it interesting that Rashad and Greg Jackson mentioned training with them. That leads me to believe he did well on the show and impressed.
^ Or $ talks. Don't think Jackson isn't turning a profit by having high profile trainees. With regards to the gun, I think Kimbo positively says that the story Wren repeated was true, even while denying it. He admits he carries a gun everywhere and that he blew up at ATT. Unless Kimbo told everyone at ATT that he had a piece on him, or in his possession in the gym, and why would he (since it would forfeit whatever advantage he was hoping for in having the gun), then somehow the guys at ATT found out. Probably because of a verbal threat or a demonstrative one with the weapon in question.
