The Kings have the #26 and the #49 picks in the draft. Who do you think they will take, who would you like to see them take, and would you like to see them trade their picks away? If I were the GM of the Sacramento Kings, I'd have three options with their first pick - 1) David Harrison - With this first round pick, I'd be looking for someone to help fill the void that Vlade is leaving. I'd also be looking for someone with a game that compliments Brad Miller's. Finally, I'd be looking for the shot blocker that they've been missing ever since the Kings traded Keon Clark to Utah. As luck would have it, David Harrison fits all of these requirements. He's probably one of the top three or four shot blockers in the drafts (averaging 3.3 bpg in college). He seems kind of weak, but that's not the case at all. He's a very strong kid; he's just not very agressive. However, if the Kings can get him to play agressive basketball, he could easily be one of the best centers coming off the bench in the league. 2) Arthur Johnson - Arhur Johnson may have only averaged around 2.0 during his best year of college ball, but he still has the potential to be one of the league's best shot blockers. His defensive positioning is terrific, and his wingspan makes it very hard to shoot over him. 3) Kris Humphries - Humphries may be a little bit undersized at 6-8, but he's proven he can put up the numbers. In the Big Ten, he was a 20/10 player. Aside from that, he's just as good of a shot blocker as Harrison and Johnson. Although he wouldn't be my first option due to his similarities to Miller's game as well as his height, I'd take him in a heartbeat if Harrison and Johnson were off the board. Who I'd Stay Away From Rafael Araujo - Rafael is a great player and an amazing prospect. However, he's not someone who I think would fit in well with the Sacramento kings. He's like Brad Miller, except for the facts that he can't block shots or play defense. He's also pretty unathletic, although he's in good shape. He just strikes me as one of those players who simply started playing basketball simply because he was tall. He's not what the Kings need. With the second round pick, it's pretty much all up in the air. However, one prospect really intruiges me - Donta Smith - Last year at Southeastern Illinois C.C, Smith was thought of by many as the #1 Junior College basketball player in the nation. Many coaches, such as Rick Pitino, think that it was foolish for Smith to come out early. They say he would have been a much higher pick if he would have played at year of Division I basketball at Louisville. However, he'd be a solid choice in the second round because he still has potential. No one knows how he'll react on the big stage, because he's only played against High School and Junior College competition. However, he has all the potential to be great. In the second round, most teams aren't really looking for a solid contributer anyway. So why not take a chance? It can't hurt that much.
I Haven't kept up with the potential draft picks, but i will trust whatever decison the Maloofs make, and hopefully the future of the Kings will be chosen??
