<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"The Kings are said to want Nene, who is making $3.04 million next season and would need to be packaged with another player. Before Orlando shipped Mobley last January to Sacramento, the Magic was turned down by Denver after asking for Nene. The Nuggets, looking hard for a shooting guard, can't acquire any new players until July 22. But they wouldn't mind having something lined up by July 14, the last day they can buy out the contract of shooting guard Voshon Lenard." Rocky Mountain News</div> Source
No chance, the Nuggets turned down Michael Redd for Nene. Kiki is too, high on Nene still and they should benefit from him being in a contract year. Also Camby and KMart are not the healthiest guys around, so having Nene backing up both guys makes him valuable for the Nuggets.
Damn, they turned down Redd for Nene!?Was that within the past year?Denver does need a 2guard that can shoot it and Mobley was one of the top shooters last year.I see Nene doesnt block too many shots, how is he on defense.I know hes got good size but the Kings really need a guy that can send shots back.
Yes it was in the past year. Nene is not a shotblocker and he needs to work on becoming a better rebounder. He still has a bad habit of getting into foul trouble because he can be overly aggressive on defense. He's actually a much better offensive player at this point, so I don't think he would fit in with the shotblocker the Kings are looking for.
I know this would make the Kings better but it still wouldnt make them a contender. In my mind their are only 3-4 teams that will contend for a championship next year with the way the current rosters are and thats the Spurs,Pacers,Pistons and the Heat are that 1/2 team im not sure about.People like to throw in the Suns,Mavs, and Rockets as contenders but in reality none of those teams will beat the Spurs in the WCF nor any team they face in the Finals in a 7 game series.Back to the subject, this would make the Kings better but I dont think Nene is one of the missing pieces for the Kings.
