That there was no competitive link between the two long, lanky and quick young men who can both fill up a stat sheet.
"He's a great player," Odom said of Kirilenko, saying he enjoys going against him. "I do. I've got a lot of respect for him."
Kirilenko, likewise, would say nothing of an individual matchup within the game, though Odom spent a good part of the evening talking away at Kirilenko.
"I like his style," Kirilenko said. "He did a great job."
Kirilenko's third career five-by-five night ? 14 points, nine assists, eight rebounds, seven blocked shots and six steals ? plus 5-for-7 shooting helped the Jazz win their fifth straight game to move into the Northwest Division lead, 90-80, over the Kobe Bryant-less Lakers, whom they beat a second straight game.
Odom scored 25 points on economical shooting and grabbed eight boards and four assists with one blocked shot. He was the only Laker in double figures.
But to hear the two, it was another day at the office when, to watch it, it seemed more like Odom trying to show up Kirilenko.
Especially a couple minutes into the game when Kirilenko blocked first Chris Mihm shot out of bounds, then blocked Odom on a 25-foot attempt from the left angle, and then Odom finally put in a perfect 26-footer over Kirilenko.
"I want to jump on that 3-point shot," said Kirilenko, "but (there were) three seconds to go (on the shot clock) ? a very tricky situation because he could fake you and get you on a foul, so I should jump a little bit late.
"And Lamar Odom, he is tall, and he make it hard."
Odom seemed to indicate, in a playground sort of way, how pleased he was to score over Kirilenko but Kirilenko said there was no offense to him.</div>
