Re: KMart's Madden NFL 07 Franchise Upon starting a Franchise Mode, I wanted several variables to be in place. I wanted a decent team, one that would present challenges all while putting me in a position to succeed. I wanted a solid Quarterback, however not one that would enable me to throw 30 yard passes into triple coverage (Ala Peyton Manning). Considering I will be playing on All - Madden for the first time during this expedition, and I need atleast a good defense to help me get some stoppage. Considering I am a solid offensive player in Madden, I needed an offense that would force me to re-adjust and really concentrate, all to make this more difficult. What team fitted this criteria? Philadelphia EaglesEarly Roster EvaluationsTo begin my journey through the wonderful world that is Madden, I evaluated my Roster. It became clear that my biggest problems were at WR (Highest - R. Brown - 83 Overall), LG (T. Herremans - 81 Overall), C (H. Fraley - 84 Overall), and FB (J. Parry - 74 Overall).Roster SigningsBy experience with Madden 07, Cap Room over $25 Million means that off-season negotiations should be relatively painless, with little time required. Off the bat, I noticed Philadelphia had $29 Million in cap room, and immediately went looking for a player who could address my problems. The only player (Besides those retarded legends you can sign) that I ended up signing was J. Mitchell (C - 90 Overall), a 32 year-old who could make a massive difference at Center and on my Offensive Line.Trade BlockWanting a good Offensive Line so I can actually get a pass off and gain some rushing yards, I put newly backup Center H. Fraley on the Trading Block along with a 3rd and 2nd Round pick to see what I can get at either LG or at WR. I get no worthwhile offers, instead getting an idea: Who cares about a first-round pick, let's get a reciever! The Quest for a RecieverNo offers I get warrant a first rounder, so I dip my standards and instead offer J. Gaffney (WR - Overall 79) and a 2nd Round Pick to the public. I get one offer from St. Louis - K. Curtis (WR - Overall 85). Now, Curtis is young, and has a solid rating, but I want something else in return. For future trade-bait, I also gain a 5th Round Pick, something that can be used in trades to help increase interest on both sides.Roster ImprovementsI now have a solid Center as well as a young up-and-coming WR to fill in. Although that 2nd Rounder could have been used to get a solid reciever in the draft, my confidence tells me I'm going to be getting a low pick, one that wouldn't allow me to get one of Curtis's calibur. Overall I feel content with my moves, and feel the Eagles are an all-around better team.Pre-Season and Depth Chart ChangesI simulate the Pre-Season, injuries turned off. Curtis out-shined Reggie Brown (14 Rec - 6 Rec. 5 TD - 0 TD). After a ratings comparison, Curtis appears to be superior to Brown in almost every category. He will be the starter. The Eagles went 2-2 in the Pre-SeasonPreparing for the Season OpenerI advance to the Regular Season, turn injuries back on, and set difficulty to All - Madden, 7 Minute quarters. We open against the Texans, which we should win. Considering I am new to the XBox 360, I have had very few stints with All - Madden on the system, and David Carr is actually good in the game, I might not do this team justice ---Thoughts would be appreciated. Update will be up soon
Re: KMart's Madden NFL 07 Franchise turning off injuries in preseason is cheating no? Its a part of the game, and tests your depth.
Re: KMart's Madden NFL 07 Franchise In reply to Nebkreb, it may be cheating in your eyes, but considering I am adjusting no sliders towards myself like many people do, I think it somewhat evens it out.---Game 1: Philadelphia @ HoustonFrom the get-go, It is obvious what EA's strategy is to make All - Madden harder. Passes are just as easy to catch, Quarterbacks are just as accurate, but your darn Offensive Line is downright bad. Every player on my Offensive Line is atleast an 87 Overall except for my LT, and yet each one of them was exploited atleast twice during the duration of the game. Because of that, many of my passes were thrown extreemely short due to being hit while in motion, or thrown inacurately due to all the scrambling I had to do.The first quarter begins with sloppy play, as both defenses lock down and no scores are put up. In the Second Quarter however, I finally get it going as I throw two TD passes and kick in a Field Goal. By the end of the half, the Eagles have stopped the Texans on three Third and Short situations. My defense is keeping me alive. As with the first half, the second half opens up with defensive stand-outs in the third quarter, before again the Eagles put up points in the Fourth. The Texans do indeed score in the third quarter, off a fumble recovery and eventual Dominick Davis rush.Final Score: PHI - 24 HOU - 7 Game AnalysisIt is clear I really need to do something with my LT position, as it was exploited many times during the game. My running game is horrible, something that again resulted from missed pancake blocks during rushes. These are things that users generally get better at as they play more however, so for now I am going to lay off of trades.Play of the GameIn the Second Quarter, I ran a Singleback set in which two Tight Ends went straight upfield and both Recievers ran post routs to the sideline. I dropped back from Center with McNabb, faked the pass, and then stepped in as I threw the ball 20 yards downfield to Reggie Brown. Brown caught the ball as his defender flew by him, tiptoed down the sideline before breaking lose for a 46 yard catchQuarterback ComparisonD. Re: KMart's Madden NFL 07 Franchise Update: While erasing excess crap from my hardrive, I deleted my Franchise Mode! Looks like this enrty is finished!
