Ryan Gomes. No question. The man owned the glass, scored efficiently, and kept the pace right where the C's needed it to be. Serviceable game from the C's, despite being out-uglied on the benches. Isiah Thomas proved he actually is a worse coach than Doc, which I would've thought he would have to work at, but rather than disappoint, 'Zeke got thrown out in the middle of a stretch of non-calls, and gave his team absolutely no momentum by doing so, what a winner. The refs were on the whistles no doubt, but a mostly well-called game, with some glaring exceptions. The C's went really, really little for almost the entire game, and rather than making them change their game plan, Thomas decided it would be good to change his own, and try to play the same type of game. Even Doc isn't that dumb. Nate Robinson proved he is quite the little whiner, no surprise, but he played very intensely and was nearly a catalyst for that offense. I think the Knicks' second unit could beat their starters day in and day out, and that is another sign of how good a coach is, if his starters underperform, and are regularly outplayed by the bench. Three games in a row that happens, perhaps it's time to re-asses where you stand on your rotation. As for Doc, he has no rotation, and again gave game minutes to nearly a dozen players. Wow. Good game, good win, and we look pretty good offensively right now, I think where we're going to impress needs to be on D though, so here's to seeing some improvement. As for the streak, that's more consecutive wins than they had all last season, so that's quite the improvement.
Well, Squish there is NO denying my pal Gomes played a heck of a game tonight, lol !! He was so poised and did just about everything well. Rebounding, scoring, hustling for second chance points, etc. Pierce of course wasn't to shabby with 39 points along with Wally who hit a few key shots. Telfair played great as well, trying to show off in front of the hometown crowd. I was really surprised yet impressed to see Doc put in Perk with a few minutes to play while having 5 fouls. Perk came up with a few crucial rebounds and the team came away with yet another win!! Lets hope they keep it going
The boardwork on this team has been awesome, especially considering their size. I mean, the Knicks aren't a good rebounding team anyway, but the C's were very good against them this evening. And yes, Gomes played the biggest role in that, despite everyone telling him he's undersized. And the Knicks broadcasters (Breen, Jet) kept saying that Eddy Curry and Channing Frye were going to have their way with this squad, and that Isiah didn't want his perimeter shooters to get caught up and not get the ball into the post. Well, their post players were absolute rubbish, and Curry chief among them. I think Frye should have gotten more minutes down the stretch, he looked like one of the few ways the C's were off balance on the glass in the earlygoing. As for Curry, what a tremendous rebounder. He's got to be one of the worst rebounders I've ever seen at that height, if not the worst. That three that Wally splashed off the offensive glass should've been the easiest board he got all night, instead, it put the C's in front for the first time. He looked like his feet were cemented to the floor.
The celts have really done a good job as of late blocking down low and getting rebounds, especially defensive rebounds. For the most part this team can score on any given night, they just need to continually play good defense and in that case, rebounding is key aspect. ps. I like this idea of posting a forum for opinions on the game MVP's each night
