<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Knicks reportedly are not planning on paying Larry Brown the more than $40 million remaining on his contract.Citing a clause in Brown's contract that requires him to follow club policy, the Knicks will seek arbitration with David Stern. They believe he acted beyond the perameters of his coaching position in attempting to make trades and also violated media policy by talking to reporters outside the presence of a team public relations person.Source: Newsday</div>Talk about desperate...Most coaches and team representatives have talked to reporters without the presence of a team PR person, and other coaches have discussed possible trade scenarios with other teams around the league, even when they aren't the GM (just to get a feel for what is possibly out there). This is low by the Knicks... a desperate attempt to keep their money and attempting to "correct" their "mistake."

Very low on the Knicks side, I thought they were planning on buying out his contract? It seems alot of people associated with the Knicks think Brown was only pure trouble and was a virus to the team.

The Knicks knew they couldn't buy out Brown's contract, because Joe Glass (Larry Brown's agent) said that he and his client would under no circumstances accept a buyout.

Not that Larry Brown is a "bad" coach, its just he uses an old fashion defensive scheme that the young players wouldn't understand. Yet, he doesn't like playing rookies and there were like 4 on the team. The Knicks just don't get along and thats how they lost over 50+ games.

It's not that the young players did not understand it... they just refused to accept it. When the majority of your players are used to playing mostly on one end of the floor (offensive), then they are going to hate the idea of playing defense... something that their previous coaches never stressed. The Knicks just didn't have the right combination of players and the coach. That is on the Knicks for missing that one...

the knicks have way to many cancers in their locker room, a goal for them this offseason will be to try to get rid of some of them which will probaly be impossible to do

The young players don't have much freedom and they don't understand Larry Brown's system of play. Well, I don't think Isiah Thomas will have 40 different lineups for the Knicks next season like Larry Brown. Just let him do everything - go thank James Dolan for how much of an idiot he actually is. The formula to the equation is...Isiah Thomas as GM + Larry Brown as coach = FAILURE
