<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">David Lee has more hops than a micro-brewery and is one of the few Knicks who can jump with Nate Robinson. His goal, however, is to match Channing Frye jump shot for jump shot.

"We always have shooting contests," Frye says, "and sometimes I even let him win. But he's getting better."

Larry Brown's search for a small forward has led him to Lee, who up until Monday was best known for being that other guy Isiah Thomas drafted last June. But with fellow first-round picks Frye and Robinson both having had their "Welcome to the NBA" moments in November, Lee arrived during the Knicks' thrilling 140-133 triple overtime victory Monday night against the Phoenix Suns.

Lee, a 6-9 converted small forward, logged 52 minutes in his third straight start and set career-highs in points (23) and rebounds (15). He is regarded as a high-energy, intelligent player, who prowls the baseline looking for rebounds. Going into last night's games, Lee was eighth in the NBA in rebounds per 48 minutes (15.2).

Brown has gone so far as to say that Lee reminds him of a young Bobby Jones, the rugged forward who helped Julius Erving win an NBA title with Philadelphia. Lee's toughness and work habits will never be questioned, but his jumper has been.

As a power forward/center at the University of Florida, Lee built a reputation as a tough interior player who needed to develop a better jump shot. That is why his numbers Monday night were so encouraging. Not only did he make 10 of 11 shots, but he sank four jumpers from beyond 19 feet.</div>

David Lee is the man. I remeber a while back I seen him in the McDonalds All American dunk contest and he put it between his legs.

Yeah, he also took off his shirt and dunked it. He has the most hops I've ever seen out a white boy.

No, that guy was James White. That might've been one of the best amateur slam dunk contests ever.

David Lee is the man, he was the steal of the draft. I dont care what anybody says about Gerald Green slipping to 18 and Danny Granger going late as well. This guy climbed a whole round in projected rankings, he went from being a late 2nd rounder to a late first, and his work ethic is what makes me like him.
