Personally I think he's worth the risk. Should be interesting to see where he ends up and if he can finally breakout before he turns 25.
If we managed to get Diop, I would be pretty happy, actually. Remember, this was the same guy who was drafted 8th overall by the Cavs back in 2001, so obviously he had some intriguing qualities to his game. If he went to college, not only would he have a better game, but he would probably not be riding Cleveland?s bench. It?s almost a given that he isn?t re-signing back with the Cavs; he doesn?t want another bad year for himself and with the Knicks needing all the size they can get, someone like Diop would be very useful. In 02-03 when he got playing time, he averaged 1 block per game in only 12 minutes. He?s a very good defender and will help lock up the middle if the perimeter is still as atrocious as it was last year. Also, let?s not forget he can work with Aguirre who has a lot to work with. He?s 7?0?, 280 pounds and only 23 years old so he does have a lot of potential left in him. If he?s willing to work hard and give us a solid 12 minutes of defense off the bench, this can work in our favor. What do we have to lose? We might as well sign him.
