If the current players were in their prime PG Stephon Marbury SG Allen Houston SF Penny Hardaway PF Vin Baker C Dikembe Mutombo We know how good a guard Marbs is but how about the rest. Penny in his prime was said to be the next Jordan,could do it all. Houston a pure shooter and scorer and still is. Vin was a double double guy every night, had great footwork and post moves around the basket and was as times unstoppable...Mutombo one of the best defenders in the NBA, a dominant rebounder and shot blocker So the question is would the Knicks win the NBA title in today's game with the above guys in their prime? I find it hard to see a team that would beat them in a best of 7 series.
If they were in their prime, yes they would win the championship.. but then again if other teams like the Lakers had all the players in their primes.. it'd be over. Shaq in his prime, Kobe in his prime, GP and Karl (the greatest power forward ever)? Damn.
Kobe is still at the top of his game. I've been thinking about that since Barkley went to Houston. But since it's the Knicks in their primes, it would be mandatory for them to win a championship so yes they would win it and give back respect to the East.
