One of the more intriguing trade possibilities involves the New York Knicks.

The Knicks covet Arizona centre Channing Frye with the No.8 pick and Frye has refused to even work out for the Raptors and several other teams.

"It doesn't mean we can't take him," Babcock said of the 7-foot Frye. "We've evaluated him a ton."

It opens the possibility that Babcock could take Frye at seven, deal him to New York along with another Raptor or two with bad contracts in return for whoever the Knicks take at No.8 and an expiring contract or two.

"There's a lot of chess match-like stuff you have to look for," said Babcock. "Who's bluffing, who's really thinking what."</div>

Trade? There's no point in one. I don't want Frye. The only way I would select him is with the 16th pick, but he's not going to be there. I rather have have Granger/Green/Webster/Wright over Frye.

The objective is to send a bad contract on us. You'll still get Wright, Granger, or Webster. You're killing two birds with one stone.

Yeah I know what the trade is about, but this shows that we actually have interest in picking Frye at 7. Who are going to trade to the Knicks? I don't really want anyone from the Knicks (who they would be willing to give up) if it means we have to take a player from then. If we're dumping a player, who will it be? Aaron Williams? Seems kind of stupid since it's William's last year, and he's still a servicable player. Doesn't make sense just to trade down one spot.

I didn't know they were interested in Frye; I thought it was just an attempt to get some salary relief. I doubt Toronto would pass up Granger and Wright anyway so you don't have to be too worried. If this were sooner before this Q thing came up, maybe a Tim Thomas for Jalen Rose swap?

Hard to say... A Tim Thomas-Jalen swap would not bother me as long as we got a swingman at 7. I would prefer for the trade to be more around the deadline though to see what Jalen and the young group of players can do because I do believe we can make the playoffs next year if he we make the right picks. But now with you guys acquiring Q, it really does't make much sense.

Hey, if Isiah really wants Frye and Babcock is bold enough to gamble by picking him at seventh, then this trade could happen. It doesn't even have to involve other players even, maybe just cash and/or future picks, somewhat like the Carter/Jamison trade in 1998.

The risk though is that if Isiah didn't want Frye too badly, both teams could be stuck with players they don't want and thus will be actively looking to trade for the rest of the summer.

If the Raptors manage to pull a deal and dump someone like Lamond Murray and pick up the player they wanted through the draft + another serviceable player like JYD or Rose/Taylor with the trade it'd be a real good deal for the Raptors. Unless they can get that done I dont see them taking Frye with the 7th pick where they can just take the player they want.
